Subject: Folk Fests 06-Where're you going? From: Mr Happy Date: 28 Mar 06 - 10:29 AM During past few weeks, I've been scrutinising froots, & other folk links for festivals, gatherings etc to visit this season. The main criteria in my quest is to find inexpensive do's + camping. Here's my preliminary plan: Apr 14-17 [Easter] Easter w/end: 3 Stags Heads, Wardlow Mires, Derbyshire Camping: £1.50/night April 28th to May 1st Upton on Severn, Campsite – £10 per head all weekend MAY 5th - 7th HOLMFIRTH FESTIVAL OF FOLK Camping £5.50 p/person p/night May 12-14 Wheaton Aston Festival Staffs. 19th- 21st May Yorkshire gathering 26-29 May Chester Folk Festival Bishops Castle Middlewich Dent Cleckheaton Saddleworth Hardraw Bradfield Shrewsbury Fylde Otley Ingleton Where are you going this season? |
Subject: RE: Folk Fests 06-Where're you going? From: Scooby Doo Date: 28 Mar 06 - 10:35 AM I think most people will go to there nearest festivals to where they live, not because they are cheap. Scooby |
Subject: RE: Folk Fests 06-Where're you going? From: WFDU - Ron Olesko Date: 28 Mar 06 - 11:46 AM Old Songs, Mystic Sea Music Festival, Philadelphia Folk Fest, Smithsonian Folklife Festival, and perhaps Falcon Ridge. I'd love to go to New Bedford SummerFest, but it won't fit into my schedule this year. Highly recommended! I may sneak in a few other festivals that are within a 100 mile radius or so. |

Subject: RE: Folk Fests 06-Where're you going? From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 28 Mar 06 - 05:51 PM Since my wife and I make our livings selling pottery at art festivals almost every weekend, we seldom get a chance to attend music festivals. We're able to do the Florida Folk Festival because it has an arts & crafts market and we sell as much there as at most art festivals. We've applied for a couple of higher volume art shows for this Fall season and if we're accepted into them we may drop a few smaller shows and actually take some weekends off to do some music festivals. May even try to get to the Getaway if things go right. |
