Subject: FIDDLER'S GROVE '06 From: Fortunato Date: 05 Apr 06 - 02:48 PM The Shivers are again headed to Fiddler's Grove in Union Grove, NC on Memorial day weekend this year. We would of course like to meet up with mudcatters and folks. We'll be setting up near our pal Tom Mindte, arriving on thursday afternoon. Look for a Red Suburu Station Wagon just below the gate, and a pavilion with the sign: Bluegrass Tonight/Folk Music Tonight. We'll likely be set up near Will Keys old Green School bus. Hope to see you there. chance |

Subject: RE: FIDDLER'S GROVE '06 From: Fortunato Date: 27 May 06 - 06:01 PM News from Fiddler's Grove, It's Saturday late Saturday afternoon and the shadows are getting longer. An old time fiddler's (Tom?) playing slow a melodic tune at Marvin's bus next door and folks are getting servious about fixing dinner. Tom and Donnie and the crew have gone off to eat Fried chicken where they eat every year. Alan Jabbour came by and said howdy and played some tunes with Marvin this afternoon. There's a sweet little breeze easing through the trees. Down on the main stage they're starting off. Susette and I have taken a break from our rehearsing for the recording session in July and she's reading the new Ann Tyler. Will Key's old green school bus attracts a lot of passing picture takers, and they come to take pictures of our camp and the "Bluegrass Tonight" sign and I suppose to see what kind of strange birds come to play this old time music and Bluegrass. Many old friends and quite a few new ones have come by to hang out and play. We've become a stop on the 'old time/bluegrass' circuit it seems. Chip and Tish Arnold are here, and Chip played some dandy banjo duets with Marvin yesterday. Chance at Fiddler's glen. |

Subject: RE: Fiddler's Grove '06 (North Carolina-Memorial Day) From: Arkie Date: 31 May 06 - 07:40 PM Is Fiddler's Grove more of a bluegrass gathering now or is more of a fiddle convention? Fiddler's Grove and Galax are two of the festivals I have always wanted to attend and just never got around to it. |

Subject: RE: Fiddler's Grove '06 (North Carolina-Memorial Day) From: Fortunato Date: 01 Jun 06 - 01:09 PM Fiddler's Grove is at this time more of an fiddler's convention. The Bluegrass bands are down in number, but there's more people singing songs, these days. A good mix, I think. |
