We don't know if women are physically not as capable as men at ballad singing,
or don't much go into it because there's conspiritorial discrimination in the pay scale
or if they've simply got better things to do.

There just don't seem to be so many Class A female ballad singers.

There are, however, some wonderful exceptions.

Hedy West was one.

That's because most ballads have a Willy in them, and wimmin haven't got one (have they?)
