Subject: Looking for: Smokehouse Monthly Issues From: reggie miles Date: 08 Feb 99 - 03:00 PM Hey Mudcats, does anyone out there know where I might be able to locate issues of this rag. I'm fairly certain it's not in print any more. I did find one copy at a garage sale a while back here in the Pacific Northwest and I've been looking for more ever since. It was originally printed in the teens, a magazine of hobo humor and barfly ballads. Reggie Miles |

Subject: RE: Looking for: Smokehouse Monthly Issues From: reggie miles Date: 24 Jan 00 - 02:18 AM Thought I'd refresh this one as I received no posts the first time I asked and it's been about a year. I've asked paper people that I know of in the area (Pacific Northwest) but so far no luck. I figured with the diversity there is among this group that I might have a better chance of finding someone who knows about this monthly magazine. It covers much about various folk music of the day as well as stories and poetry and the issue I have was illustrated with some wonderful woodcuts. It's a similar publication to Captain Billy's Whiz Bang. There's even an ad on the back for Capt. Billy's. So, is there anyone who has the faintest idea of what I'm looking for? I think the references to old songs and humor are what I like most about it. Thanks, Reggie Miles |
