Subject: Lyr Req:Rose of Ballydargan From: GUEST,Eoin O'Buadhaigh Date: 06 Apr 06 - 10:13 AM I hope someone may help shed some light on this request, 'The Rose of Ballydargan' (Ballydargen) or sometimes known as 'The Flower of the Glen' I have recently been asked if I could find any information on the above and the lyrics. What I know so far is, it's a County Down song. Townland - Ballydargan, it is written about a young girl who died 1776 who's name is Cordellia. John Wm. Hanna wrote a piece on the ballad in The Down Recorder in 1860 but no copy of transcript available. Any information at all would be a bonus, sorry not much information to go on. Thanks Eoin |
