Subject: Staffing the Musician's Home From: wysiwyg Date: 11 Apr 06 - 03:06 PM I know if I could afford it, before I hired a housecleaner or cook I'd want a live-in music librarian to help keep my print and sound organized, to find things quick when I need them, and to put them away when I move on to some other interest. THEN I would hire the cook and cleaner. What staff does YOUR house need most, to help you mind your music life? Booking agent? Record producer? What? ~Susan |

Subject: RE: Staffing the Musician's Home From: Midchuck Date: 11 Apr 06 - 04:11 PM I think musicians tend to have cats. Which means, of course, that the musicians are the staff. Peter |

Subject: RE: Staffing the Musician's Home From: SINSULL Date: 12 Apr 06 - 09:05 AM I hate having people mucking about in my things. A friend or two to help but no hired staff. Can't afford the cleaning lady anymore. |

Subject: RE: Staffing the Musician's Home From: Mooh Date: 12 Apr 06 - 02:54 PM Let's see, I don't need the repair guy 'cause I prefer to do that stuff myself, don't need nobody to pick up after me...but, a massage therapist would be great (I go to a wondeful one now), and a chiropractor to work in tandem with her. Receptionist to handle that stupid telephone, do bookings, appointments, lessons, take money, photocopying, computer stuff, and pinch hit for the bride who already does too much of this stuff. Already have an accountant and wouldn't want someone so money focused on site. To afford all this I'd just have to increase my rates tenfold, and maybe take a little less for myself. Peace, Mooh. |

Subject: RE: Staffing the Musician's Home From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 13 Apr 06 - 05:55 AM I don't mind doing all the music organizing stuff so much- I'd just love someone to cook, clean, pay bills, maintain the house before it falls apart, fix my car, do the groceries and errands, clean the litter box- so I'd actually have more time to practice! |
Subject: RE: Staffing the Musician's Home From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 13 Apr 06 - 10:03 AM Practice? huh? |
Subject: RE: Staffing the Musician's Home From: Wesley S Date: 13 Apr 06 - 01:23 PM Animaterra - It sounds like you need a 50's or 60's sitcom wife. |
Subject: RE: Staffing the Musician's Home From: Big Al Whittle Date: 14 Apr 06 - 04:23 AM last saturday night, I was thinking - I wish I could hire another musician to go out and do this gig for me. In retrospect I wish I had. It was rubbish. |
