We drifted apart as lives will do, but his affect on me was profound and lifelong. Recently someone posted pictures on Facebook of Tom, Mick Scott and me performimg at the Old Town School Of Folk Music's all night party in 1981. It was really a bittersweet moment to see them. We were performimg A Delicate Balance. We were really on that night and tore it up on several songs. Mick had a great song called "The Pinball Game". Tom had a tour scheduled and asked Mick and me to go along. We all had a substantial catalog of songs and it was Tom's intent for us to be a band and work out setlists featuring the best of our individual compositions in a band form. I was going to play acoustic bass, not an upright, but an Ernie Ball Earthwood, guitar and harmonica. Mick on guitar and mandolin, w/Tom as the draw and playing guitar and harmonica as well. We had started rehearsals, but forces pulled us all in different directions and it never came to fruition. Sad, really. Mick and Tom were established, well respected songwriters and I was just beginning to forge a reputation. Whenever I'd write a new song Tom would be the first person for whom I'd play it. He had 2 phrases he used: "Yeah, now yer tawkin'" or "I thnk you need to dig deeper". When Tom got the go ahead funding for his album 'A Delicate Balance' I was the first person he asked to be involved. My contributions were arrangement suggestions and playing on 6 or 7 cuts. As a result he gave me a co-production credit. My personal favorite Tom Dundee song is 'If my Life Were A Book" If my life were a book and all my time were the pages Of all the chances that I took in all the chapters of my ages The pages would fall open to the times of me and you The corners would be folded from the times I read them through And that's how my time would look if my life were a book Once while recording his LP we took a break and went around the corner to have a beer. Buster Ursini, the engineer, Tom and me. We ended up playing pinball and getting really, really drunk. So we staggered back to the studio singing the Jim Reeves song "He'll Have To Go" at the top of our lungs arm in arm for support. We got back to the studio and Tom wanted to sing 'You're So Pretty When You Smile". So, he goes into the vocal room and proceeds to peel the paint with his vocal. It was SO bad Buster and I told him he'd gotten it in one take and we didn't even want him to hear it until tomorrow. So, he agreed and when we all came back the next day...hungover of course. We played the track and it was even worse than we'd remembered. Nobody laughed louder than Tom. He was a devil of the practical joke, but could take as good as he gave. I loved Tom. Still do. Always will. He was my friend, brother, co-worker, hero, mentor and friend. The reason it's taken me this long to post is because it took me this long to fully grieve his passing. There's a part of me ripped out that simply will never be replaced. Much more than a songwriter he was a singular life force whose collected works will be taught as literature in the future. |

When I put his CDs on this morning, for some reason, it just seemed right. Then I went to the Internet to see if there was any new news about Tom. We were last in touch in November before he died in April last year. He sent me his CDs; I sent him a scarf. Scarves were a running joke between us. We put a tile in the Pike Place Market floor in '86--"Right Lane Man." I had the certificate mounted and framed as a coffee cup coaster and gave it to Tom. Last time I saw it, he kept it in his truck. I believe he's circling around us all--up there--somewhere, singin', hummin' and laughin' with us. Tom told me a story about his father's death. He told me that his father was in a bank (I think) and felt 'not right', so asked for a place to lie down. He laid his body down on a bench and said "I don't feel good," and then turned his head and he died. Tom said that he wanted to go that way, quickly and quietly. It's good news that he had a partner and that he went out on his bike. It doesn't sound like he suffered: God just came for him because He needed a storyteller with a voice and a heart. Rich Date: 09 May 06 - 04:39 AM This past Sunday night, May 7th,2006, a small bar called Lily's on Lincoln Ave. in Chicago payed tribute to Tom's memory. A more formal tribute will be held next Sunday at the Old Town School of Folk Music. That will be the funeral. Last Sunday was the wake; a bunch of old friends gathering to sing songs, swap stories, and drink to Tom's memory. Amongst the performers were Al Day, Harry Waller, Sandy Andina, Mick Scott, Irwin Helfer, and so many others. I know that I'm leaving out, at least, a dozen or so. My apologies to those I left out. The finale was Chris Farrel leading all of the performers plus Earl Pionke to sing "Delicate Balance". It was quite an experience and quite a send-off. Some of the people there I hadn't seen in upwards of twenty years. We all seemed to pick up the conversation where it had left off. My only regret is that it would have been nice to have re-united with these folks under happier circumstances. There is a fund which has been set up to help to pay for Tom' last expenses and to get him a proper headstone. As soon as I have an address for it I'll post it here. Stephen Lee |

But then I remember something I wrote to TR and Michael concerning your death. In July of 1982, as I drove over the Cascades into the wet side of the state, I heard some incredible music from a radio station I had tuned into in my old Dodge van. New music, to me, but what I was to learn was well known to many others along the northern corridor of the country. I heard "A Delicate Balance" for the first time, played on KEZX, and I was taken by the message. Then I heard "The Climb," just a few minutes later. "What world is this," I wondered, as I approached my home. It was the first time I had ever known a true home. A home of the heart. My family grew from the friends I made, and one of the first was you. I remember the puzzled look on your face when I handed you a card, and asked if you might ever need a graphic designer for an album project. Two or three days later I got a call and you explained that you had just finished a new album and had no clue who to go to for the design. In the next few years, I was introduced to an extended family of musicians, music lovers, radio and recording people, and concerts and gigs, venues and critics, and songwriters who taught me, through just sheer exuberance and belief, that to live what you love best is the best life you can live. I remember that dog Bob Johnson, sitting on cue for the album photo shoot. Both of us driving to Vancouver, BC, to shrink wrap "Right Lane Man" by hand while the record company guys looked on in bewilderment. But you had a budget, man… Shooting pool, the Doghouse for breakfast, and wandering around the Northwest with you and TR Ritchie. Sitting at the door, then listening to you both change the night into reflection and peace. I learned a lot about friendship in those years, and at times I still feel that you are a bodhisaatva in a way. Croquet tournaments that were contact sport as everyone tried to take home pink flamingos. I can't tell you how many times I've introduced my friends to Prairie Fires, as you did for me at the Virginia Tavern. I crawl-walked all the way back up to Queen Anne Hill… When I called one of my friends to tell her that you had died, I mentioned to her all sorts of remnant pieces of our friendship, over twenty years ago. I mentioned those Prairie Fires, and she said, "So HE's the guy responsible for that." And I smiled, cause that was as sly a comment as you would have made, Dundee. She crawl-walked home with me one night after Prairie Fires a few months ago. Luckily, I'd forgotten that part. I just read Michael's post, and like him, I heard of your accident from TR by email. It took the wind from me, and left a gaping hole as his message said, "Tom, we're going to lose him." That night TR and I spoke by phone and I learned you took off at last. These last few weeks have been hard, just knowing the times that I could have traveled to Chicago, or to Nashville, to hang out and have one more beer, or eight more Prairie Fires. I can't express how sad I am that I lost touch with you, my friend. But I can say that I have told many friends about you over the years, and what I learned in Seattle from a family of creative people who taught me to follow your heart. Last November, I learned that my lead Professor, who taught me almost all I know about painting, had slipped into dementia and suffers from rapidly advancing Alzheimer's. I teach now in a college, and as I read the letter from his wife to my students, I told them of Harry's words to me as a student, and how my words are just an amalgam of all that I've been taught by many great teachers and dear friends. After that, I read them the lyrics to "A Delicate Balance" as a eulogy to Harry. It was hard to get through that reading, for many reasons. And now, I understand that you have gone. And there is that large, gaping hole. But in it, there is feeling that your lessons in friendship will more than fill that gap, my old friend. Thank you, TR, for sharing with me Tom's passing. There was NO ONE who didn't love Tom Dundee.I met him in the 70s on Lincoln Avenue. I was a cocktail waitress and a bartender -- and a college professor. Tom loved the Cubs (even though he loved baseball). He loved the Buddha. He loooooved seaweed juice. Whatever sturm und drang I suffered (and they were frequent, me being a drama queen), Tom would hug me and smile, and tell me how it all passes, it all passes. Tom was a hellraiser, too. Are there any more of us left? Tom had a beater then that he called Magenta. One of the things we loved to do in the winter is harrass Chicago's Snow Patrol. They would plow an area, go on to another place, and we six would jump out of the car and do snow angels like crazy (spreading the snow back in the street, of course. We would bellow SNOW PATROL! They chased us once, so we split a 12 pack with them. They let Tom sit on the top of the plow's cab. Then we all broke into song (I've forgotten which.) TR Ritchie emailed me the night of his accident and I remember grabbing my guitar and singing something for Tom right then. It seemed to be the best way to pray for him. I sat that night, feeling Tom, remembering the times we'd shared the stage back in the 80s, times since then when we'd taken long walks and Tom had told me of his latest adventures. There are few people who have inspired as many re-tellings of a story as Tom Dundee. His real life experiences were just so magical and outlandish and charming and insane that you couldn't help but tell a friend or two. If he was incarnate back then, I'd swear Tom might have been Davy Crockett. He was that kind of traveling storyteller/adventurer/ambassador. There was the time he woke up from sleeping at a roadside rest stop in his car, when a group of runners came up the road. It was a marathon and half-marathon being run. All Tom had were the cowboy boots he had on. He decided instantly to run along, thinking he'd laugh a bit, then turn around and come back. But he started enjoying it and thinking, "Hey, I could maybe complete this thing!" So he ran a half-marathon in his cowboy boots. As if that itself weren't enough to stun any listener, then he added, "What amazed me was that I had this calcium deposit on my heel that hurt like hell. Man, by the end of that run it had completely disappeared!" The night before Tom's passing I sat after I sang for him and tried to feel him. I asked that my own spirit touch his and comfort him, listen to him, whatever happens when two souls really connect. What I felt was so beautiful. Tom was laughing. He was not in the least unhappy. Tom was happy about where he was in that very moment. I got the strongest feeling that he was off on another of his adventures. I'm not saying this to be upbeat and optimistic about what goes on after we pass on. I'm just sharing what I felt from Tom that night. Tom was the best man at my wedding in '91. Probably one of the only times Tom wore a tux in his life. We'd known each other for a few years at that point - I tended bar at Orphans for the last few years they were open; Tom and I spent a lot of time together playing golf, bowling and just hanging out. We stayed real close until the present day. He was that one person that I could tell anything and everything to. He knew most of my deepest darkest secrets and I knew most of his. We just went bowling last month. He kicked my ass. I somehow didn't hear about this happening to Tom until a week later. I spent a few hours with Roni at Tom's place earlier this week; she filled me in on what she could. If some of the folks that were at the hospital with Tom on Saturday could write me and let me know what happened - not to be morbid - I just want to know what happened to my buddy. Roni told me she didn't get there until 6 that evening and told me that the reports after Tom got out of surgery were that he would fully recover. Tom was driving south on Highway 1 and had added up the miles on the map. What he didn't know was that it was a slow, winding road for hours, a much longer time than he had planned on . He called to say he would be there in time but would meet me at the venue. He managed to make it just a few minutes after start time. None of the people had ever heard Tom; they were there because they were fans of the song "Delicate Balance" which Steve Seskin always sang. They were all sitting there in rows of chairs waiting quietly when Tom walked in. Apparently he was used to about 25 people coming to house concerts and there were twice as many. He looked at me in surprise and said quietly, "I hope I'm good." |

It wasn't even that difficult to drag the big balloon to the shore. After a momentary trepidation in regard to the result of allowing myself to fall down backward in my condition, I considered the alternative: drag myself back upstairs where my choice of distraction was Judge Judy or Springer. Realizing there are many things worse than death (and we don't even have cable) I surrendered myself spread-eagle and my old Sevylor 2-man welcomed me like an ancient leather smoking chair in an English library. And I was off. |

And to you I offer my deepest sympathies and condolences on your own personal lost. I want to share this memory of Tom with you. I told him one time when you and first came to the Wilmette theater looking for the "Fastest Indian" movie poster. I don't know if you heard it this so I would like to relate it to you. When he released the Delicate Balance LP, and was playing the clubs back then Tom played the Heartland café in Rogers Park when I and about 4 friends went to see him play. There was not a big crowd but he played like there were 100 of people in the room. After it was over he was sitting at the piano and we came and talked to him. Usual stuff saying how much we liked the show liked the LP he just released. I mentioned how I also like his Song Back on the Streets again. Now I can't remember if I asked or not but he started to play the chorus of the song and we all sang along. I think he might have played it twice. It is a memory that has always stayed with me. Tom took the time to talk to us not rushed us off like most maybe would have done. He seemed to me at least generally touched and maybe a little awed that people remember the songs he sung and how they touched there life. I remember after he gave me the CD (Lyfe Tyme A Ryme) and I told him how I smiled hearing him for the 1st time in along time and how warm his voiced was. He seemed also touch if maybe a little embarrassed but I meant every word of it. I am glad to have gotten to know him and you just a little and that he took the time to say hi when you and he came to the theater. It has been a salve for my soul, helping me to understand why I feel so bloody sad. It was probably '82 or so when I first met Tom. Our paths crossed left and right over the years, he visited my radio show a time or two, I'd catch him at The Silver Spoon or Folklife and see him often at Bryan and Jeri's playing hoops with Bowers and the boys or...working out front on his car. About 10 years later, I was licking my wounds from a failed relationship, virtually homeless and given shelter at "Bowers' Towers", that funky, welcoming 3-story Victorian fixer-upper. Dundee was crashing in some other room, and would show up alongside my pallet on the floor with a strong cuppa joe, ready to start the day with shared tales of the vagueries of love lost and won, gently encouraging me not to sink deeper into that dark place. That mellifluous and sandy voice of his could melt ice off a glacier and make grown women weak in the knees. You only had to hear him say [your name here] and it would never sound quite as sweet again, from anyone. I came across a piece of fabric today, saved from one of my favorite old cowboy shirts. Worn and frayed, yet soft and durable, blue as Tom's eyes, impossible to say goodbye to. What a truly beloved man, our Dundee, to be lifted far above the common measures of success and heralded as such an adored spirit. We were both on the bill, and Tom called me from the middle of Minnesota all in a snit about how his bicycle's seat was, for sure, the wrong one! Tom was developing the world's worse case of saddle soreness. He knew I was flying up there later that day and wanted me to get his seat with the extra padding and bring it up to him. Well, I did that, but that bike seat in my backpack set off every alarm at Ohare Field. I was whisked into a side room where the pipe on the seat that fit into the bike was thoroughly prodded. (They thought it was a pipe bomb!)-----Tom was very glad to have that sheepskin covered seat for the long ride back to Chicago. --- He bought me several beers at the festival hotel that night! Tom would play at my folks' restaurant, The Silver Spoon, often with his friends Reilly & Malony and Bryan Bowers. When Tom has to move, he left his dog Bob Johnson behind. Bob lived with us until his death in 1988, survived by his son Howard Johnson, who died not long after. Tom would call every once in awhile to get an update on Bob, stopping by for "visitation" when he made it back to the Northwest. Bob was also featured on the front and back cover of Tom's album A Delicate Balance. I would love to find a copy of that today. I'll always remember Tom as one of the nicest "grown-ups" I ever met and I'm deeply saddened - as are my folks - to hear this news, but glad (certainly not surprised) to find so many of his friends here on this thread. |

Last year, when my husband who is a sculptor, was commissioned to do a piece for the City of Walla Walla's public art collection, he designed a sculpture called "A Delicate Balance." He wanted to use a verse of Tom's song as part of the piece. Using the miracle of the internet, I was able to find Tom, to ask his permission. I sent him Wayne's drawing of the proposed piece, and asked what the fee would be for use of the lyric. He answered right away, with great enthusiasm for the project, and saying, "The fee is a bottle of 16 year old Lagavulin Scotch, and I'd like you to save it so we can share it when we meet." We corresponded a couple of times after that... I sent him a dvd of the dedication ceremony for the sculpture, where we played his recording of "A Delicate Balance." (Which he very kindly sent us, since we didn't own it.) I also sent him the bottle of Lagavulin, since I was afraid he might not ever make it to Walla Walla, though he talked of coming here some day to see the sculpture. I figured we could get another bottle to share with him then. We so hoped we would be able to meet this kind and generous man. Our hearts go out to all who knew him in this sad time. . . . our spirits are heavy, even after so brief and transient a connection with Tom. If there was ever anyone who could make you feel special, it was Tom Dundee. A gentleman of his kind is too rare in this day and age. A Gentle Man. Stories that he loved to tell because he would live the moments all over again as he spoke the words, poetically. Listening to Tom describe a memory or a scene was often better then experiencing it yourself, because you were able to see, even for just a brief moment, through those soft, gentle, kitten eyes that captured every beautifully rendered detail. I'll miss hearing those stories and I find myself trying to remember them all now. I suppose they'll come to me in moments when I'm least expecting it....special moments that I'm sure all who knew Tom will have in the days, months, years ahead, when we stop and smile and say, "hey, T, haven't you told me that one before..." and we'll laugh, but it won't feel quite as good without his big, juicy heart in the room there with us. Rather, "T" would grab his pen and paper,rip open his heart, empty his pockets, reach out, try harder, perhaps say very little, and yet find exactly the right words to express those deep, complex feelings that we all have, but may not be able to articulate. And too, there would probably be a perfect, singable melody to accompany the words. This was the genius of Tom Dundee. He was a kind, gentle everyman, a friend to all, who wrote some of the best songs ever written... songs with heart, joyful songs, playful songs, transcedant songs, love songs, so many songs, songs that will never die. 34 years ago I had the honor to begin working with Tom, promoting his performances and producing his first ever recordings on "Get Folked" Live At Charlotte's Web. He became a brother to me, as good a friend as any man could ever hope to have. He sang at my wedding. Last year, he cradled my newborn son, Cedar, just hours after he was born and christened him "Brave Lone Tree Of The Bright Blue Tribe" (Tom was "Chief Thunder" of that tribe.) I have been crying for days. Unable to imagine a world without Tom Dundee. Today, I read this blog and realize that I am not alone. Thank you. My wife, Tigris and I spent yesterday in joyful, tearful celebration of Tom's life and feeling enormous sorrow at his passing. Tigris performed a blessing and last rites in our guest room where he has lived for much of the past two years, releasing his spirit, surrounded by pure love and light. We know that where he is, God is. Now, we have just returned from a long, slow drive along Santa Monica mountain roads that he loved to ride on his motorcycle, looking out across glorious peaks he described to us often in poetic detail, hearing him, feeling him, loving him. Our "Tompanga" Dundee. Everyone's buddy. A lover. A songsmith extraordinaire. A guitar man. A clever wit, ever ready with a joke to lighten the day. A listener. A helping hand. I used his wonderful "Dog" song for a Unitarian Universalist animal blessing service (sung by the great Natural Bob Holdsworth - and Bob, much to his surprise, adopted a dog very much like the one in the song a few weeks later) and also the "Working on the Car" song for another service. I loved the way Tom used words to make a picture of a time and place, and also touched on situations with which other people could identify. Tom looked out at the world with his writing, instead of just inside at his personal thoughts and feelings. A hundred years or two from now, people will be able to listen to his songs and get a picture of life in the time that he lived it - something that I believe all of us songwriters should strive for. He was kind and supportive to lesser known musicians as well - he was very enthusiastic about my musical partnership with Sandy Andina in our band, Sass! Some higher profile performers turn up their noses at lesser known acts, or see them as competition, but Tom was just too nice for that. What an awful loss! Tom will be sorely missed. To paraphase Tom Paxton's song, "If when we die, we go somewhere, I'll bet you a dollar he's singing there..." with Fred Holstein, and Steve Goodman, and Eunice Mast...see you later, gentle friend. |

He would ask me occasionally what I thought of a particular verse - of course I was just a kid and what-did-I-know; it all sounded great to me... That was a special time in Chicago's folk music scene, with so many great people making their mark indelibly on our hearts, minds and political consciences.... I met Tom at a celebration for another young girl with cystic fibrosis – Lizzy… It was a year after Lizzy had received two beautiful lungs from a precious donor like Tom has become… Tom was there because he had helped organize a "Got Well" party and concert for Lizzy on the one year anniversary of receiving her beautiful lungs… Tom and several other musicians put on a special little concert just for her and any friends she wanted to invite. It was an incredibly beautiful event – And a truly moving thing to do for someone… We've seen him a few times after that special concert… He is truly a beautiful person. His song, "These Cowboys" has always been one of my favorites and I never let a show go by without singing it. I'll never be able to do it quite the same way from now on. (Though that will surprise his worldwide folk audiences.) He was a singer songwriter. Better yet he was Chicago's truth teller. Never stridently, rarely loudly. He whispered the news of our lives that really mattered. It was musical poetry mixed with candor, astute humor, understating – always -- his immense musical skill. You won't find a website for Tom Dundee. Maybe another line from his best known song "A Delicate Balance" covers the way Tom saw the world. "To worry does nothing but steals from the loving and robs from the pleasure that's there." And so he didn't worry his career along. He let it unfold. A staple of the Chicago music scene since the 1960's, his four decades performing built sustainable loyalty in his audiences. A private party gig in Montana grew into a nine year annual event. A house concert in Wilmette became an annual festival. A single word placed carefully about the quality of a young singer sparked a band and a CD. A troupe of Chicagoans followed him at every local gig. The songs bore repetition well and his intelligence and curiosity fed his patter between songs. His songs spoke of friendship and he lived it. A lifelong friend of Earl Pionke, "The Earl of Old Town," Dundee was part of the core of singer songwriters who created the Old Town scene in Chicago in the 1970's: Steve Goodman, John Prine, Fred Holstein, Michael Smith. The famous clubs of the time Holstein's, Wise Fools and Somebody's Else's Troubles formed the backdrop for the music and humor and the life of the Chicago music community. Tom Dundee knew how to connect the dots. Someone here, someone there, a dash of Dundee and things began to happen. His caring for his audiences enfolded them early in the evening and then, carried by his guitar, songs, stories and humor, the audience would leave wanting more. His gossamer songwriting touch and master musicianship built him a career touring nationally, and in Europe. He lived and worked variously in New Mexico, California, Nevada, Washington State. His twang and country music lilt developed while he was in Nashville where he eventually recorded his self-named CD and Lyfe Tyme Arhyme both produced by Mark Elliott for Flyte Records. But he was Chicago born and bred, returning here after every loop of adventure and performances. In recent years Tom was a touring member of the Weavers tribute group "Weavermania." Where he worked with Michael Smith, Barbara Barrow, Mark Dvorak, Chris Walz and others. When he was off stage, Dundee's quiet attention to detail often placed him in the seat behind the sound board helping friends sound better or sometimes he would use his carpentering skills to build a speaker rack in a venue or a client's deck. He'd turn up unexpectedly to ask a question and stay to solve a problem that interested him. All the while his records quietly sold, his songs inspired public sculpture, his tunes played on elevators across the world. Dundee's most recent project was the show called "Somebody Else's Troubles," a showcase of the established musicians from Jim Craig, Kat Eggleston, Corky Seigel and James Lee Stanley blended with newer talent that he thought deserved attention like Donna Adler and Gabrielle Schafer. This show was presented in various venues like the Folk Series at Bill's Blues in Evanston and Lilly's on Lincoln over the past three years. But it all stopped last weekend after a motorcycle accident early Saturday morning and Dundee's death April 18th from resulting complications. A musical memorial tribute evening is planned on a date to be announced. He is survived by his partner Rhonda Perkins and several cousins. |

We swapped alot of songs, and could catch up with each other pretty quick. Most of the things I remembered made me smile, or laugh right out loud. As we're all in tears, with our hearts broken in tiny pieces, we're all gonna think of Tom at some point, and he'll crack us up. And that's how he'd like it, huh? Several remarked that they have long been aware that he has an astonishingly large group of very close friends many of whom have never met each other. The outlook for Tom's recovery appears to be very grim according to the trauma surgeon who briefed us late this afternoon. A nuclear medicine scan today showed almost no blood flow to the brain and massive clotting throughout the left hemisphere. They plan to repeat the test tomorrow am but he did not hold out much hope. Like everyone else, I'm in tears. Tom has been a very close friend of my daughter's since they were in their early twenties. He lived with me for a short time, as he often quips from the stage to his audiences "I've lived with most of you at one time of another." —BK |

Back in the 70's when you'd find a bunch of folkies trading one liners (usually at two or three in the morning at the Barbarossa), Tom would wait until evreybody had had thier say a couple of times and then land everyone with a zinger that would shut everybody down. He doesn't say a lot, but when he does you know it's important. And while we're listing his songs let us not forget"McBride Argyle Station Furnished Rooms" and "These Cowboys" ( sometimes called Cowboys Born Out Of Thier Time). I just spoke with someone there and they said there was really no change in his condition. My heart is breaking! I met him when Weavermania played the Hurdy Gurdy a few years ago. I was very impressed with him and the rest of the group - they captured the spirit of the Weavers without becoming a carbon copy. Tommy is an old friend. Details are sketchy but I just want to let his friends and fans in on the little I know. He is apparently at the St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois. Tom Dundee is a fine songwriter and singer who wrote one of my favorite songs of all time. Titled "A DELICATE BALANCE" --- if it's not in the digitrad I will be posting it soon. As an original member of the Weavers revival group called WEAVERMANIA, along with Michael Smith, Mark Dvorak and Barbara Barrow, Tom showed this recent generation why we old ones enjoyed the Weavers music so much.
