The whole range of human emotion, which is the backbone of all folklore and folk song, is the unifying factor behind the original goal of Tradition Records. The intent listener will find it, in one form or another, in every one of the performances in their vast, eclectic catalog. Our commitment to preserving the integrity of these performances is what the goal of the Tradition Years series is all about. Painstaking measures have been taken in the re-mastering process as well as preserving original cover art and liner notes of these classic releases to bring the folk music enthusiast the finest possible product available on the market. We will continually expand the series to bring together folk music in all its forms from every corner of the globe. Many of these classic recordings have never been available on CD and we feel that it is our duty to expose these wonderful recordings to the public which is what tradition is all about: preserving history.

Please check out the great titles we have, there are sound samples and descriptions on each release and plenty more to come- Not to mention some free downloads and other goodies like writing reviews and news on our releases.

Thanks,
Sean Weeks

Sean, thank you for the great work. My co-host Bill Hahn and I have been playing CD's from this superb series on our radio program. These re-issues have been handled with care and respect. They sound superb.   For years I have been playing my scratchy vinyl copies, often with skips and pops, that have taken away from the beauty of the original recording. These new reissues allow the music to be heard the way it was meant to be.   I am particularly grateful that you have included original liner notes as well as some updated information.   These CD's are long overdue and you and everyone at EmpireMusicwerks deserve a round of applause.

I hope these will be successful and perhaps we can see some other classic folk catalogs reissued in the future.

By the way, I recorded an interview with John Edward Niles, the son of John Jacob Niles, and I will be airing it in the near future. We discussed the new CD's and the how they are helping to keep the legacy of these great artists alive.

I have a LOT of Tradition LPs I bought in the early 70s. They were cheap ($1.98 at the time) and wonderful. MacColl's Classic Scots Ballads was my favorite record for a long time.
