I don't recognise this song. Can you give a little more detail?
The closest I can come up with from memory is "I Remember that Summer in Dublin" - is it the one you are looking for per chance?

Summer In Dublin

Take me away form this city and lead me
To where I can be on my own.
I wanted to see it and now that I have
I just want to be left alone
I'll always remember your kind words
And I"ll still remember your name
But I've seen you changing and turning
And I know that things won't be the same

Chorus:
I remember that summer in Dublin
And the Liffey as it stank like hell
And the young people walking down Grafton Street
And everyone looking so well

I was singing a song I heard somewhere
Called "Rock and Roll Never Forgets"
When my humming was smothered by the 46A
And the scream of a low flying jet
So I jumped on a bus to Dunleary
Stopping off to pick up my guitar
And a drunk on the bus told me how to get rich
I was glad we weren't going too far

So I'm leaving on Wednesday morning
Trying to find a place I can hear
Where the wind and the birds and the sea and the rocks
Where open roads always are near
And if sometimes I tire of the quiet
And I want to get back up that hill
I'll just get on the road and stick out my thumb
I know that you'll be there still

Repeat chorus.

Regards Mick Bracken

There is indeed a song called SATURDAY NIGHT IN DUBLIN. It is on 2 various-artists collections: "130 Great Irish Party Singalongs," Rego Irish CD #3130, 1995; and "50 Irish Party Sing-a-longs," Rego Irish CD #613790, 1995. My source doesn't name the artists. I was unable to find any other information.

My transcription. Notice a few gaps.

SATURDAY NIGHT IN DUBLIN TOWN
As sung by The Celtic Folk on "Live on Bourbon Street" (2008)

La, la, la-la-la la.
La, la, la-la-la la.

1. Let's go on a trip into Dublin
And take a grand tour of the bars
... and to Neary's
Sure we'll stop and we'll have a few jars
And we'll join in the craic and the singin'
And we'll brag of the things we can do.
We'll argue on things we don't know of.
It is my turn to buy one for you.

CHORUS: On a Saturday night in Dublin town, havin' a jar with the crowd.
On a Saturday night, and we all get tight, and ev'ryone's singing out loud.
La, la, la-la-la la.
La, la, la-la-la la.

2. Watch out there for big Jamie Sweeney.
One pint and he gets quite ... mad.
And there's only one man that can stop him:
That's his seventy-eight-year-old dad.
Well, his dad is around in De Vere Street(?),
Courtin' young Eileen McGraw,
Smokin' the wacky tobacky,
While drinkin' his Coke through a straw. CHORUS

3. O'Leary got into trouble.
He didn't come home from the job.
He went on a tear down to Mulligan's
And he lowered a few pints of grog.
When the overtime money was all spent,
O'Leary was not fit to speak.
His wife arrived in an uproar
And she beat him half into next week. CHORUS

4. So whenever you go into Dublin,
And you're havin' the time of your life,
Say "Sláinte" to big Jamie's father,
And don't forget O'Leary's wife;
And we'll have a quick last one in Donohue's,
'Cause Donohue's a great friend of mine,
A few minutes before the old barman shouts:
"Time, gentlemen, time!" CHORUS TWICE

The songwriter is Mike Carroll, a friend and someone I played with for many years.
