Folks, every year I post a note to let people know about the Country Dance and Song Society's Folk Music Week at Pinewoods Camp outside Plymouth, Massachusetts. Here it is again, with a warning: use it or lose it!

Each year it's a wonderful program with a mix of traditions from "both sides of the pond" for solo singers, group singers, players of various sorts, a touch of songwriting... and some dancing as icing on the cake. But, I know that it's always a struggle to get enough attendance, and the week usually has to be subsidised by the more successful dance-oriented weeks.

This year you have the chance to spend a week with

Finest Kind (Ian Robb, Shelley Posen, and Anne Downey)
Dave Webber & Ani Fentiman
Jeff McClintock of Friends of Fiddler's Green
Jeanne Morrill
Mark Simos
Pete Vigour
Alistair Brown
Kathy Bullock
Greg & Jere Canote
Becky Hill

So that's a mix of English, American, Canadian, Scottish, southern Appalachian, western, New England, African-American... what more could you want? (well, you'll get more Irish elsewhere, this summer!)

This week has a concurrent old-time string-band class running, so it should be a great mix of folks.

I've been four times in the past 8 years, but if I had my choice, it'd be much more frequent than that.

Get your application in now!!

And the dates are: July 22 - 29, 2006. This sounds wonderful; wish I was there!

I wish I could take more time off from work (oh, and had some extra money, too), but I've got a relentless publication schedule at th magazine, so...
