We have been searching for over a year and no one seems to have the lyrics to the second verse of the song "What Ireland Means to Me". Would appreciate any help locating this.

Thank you John and Karol jdiehnel@earthlink.net

Something makes me thing it could be a variation of GALWAY BAY (click here) that Bing Crosby sang, but that's coming from a foggy, foggy mind....

Can't remember the first verse, but the chorus is,"I is for internment of the innocent and free. R is for resistance to the laws of tyranny. E is for the English who have torn our land apart. L is for the love of freedom in every Irish heart. A is for the answer that we are looking for. N is for one nation and an end to this long war.D is for the dream of millions longing to be free. That's how I spell Ireland. What Ireland means to me".

Correction; I believe that instead of it being a "chorus", that was actually the second verse. Of course, I could be wrong.

Good God just what the world needs -another whinging Irish ballad.

Hey get a grip all you have to do is convince the 800,000+ "loyalists" in the North that they would be better off in a United Ireland then everything would be hunky-dory. Trouble is "economically" you can't.

But I will tell you one thing 92%+ of the population of Ireland (And I mean the whole of Ireland) says you ain't goin' to do do it with a bomb or a gun. So there it is guys convince in another way.

We were looking for a song - not a political lecture! ;>)>

Wasn't there an earlier, schmaltzy song of that name - which presumably provided the "inspiration" for the one sought and, finally, found?

Regards
