From: catspaw49 Date: 10 Jan 07 - 09:30 AM No.....It seems that gnu has reached the end of his line and has nothing gnu to say..................Please forgive him as he knows not what he does and he never did. I can't believe it's time for Giok to get fixed. Just awhile back he didn't have a leg to stand on and soon he'll have TWO!!!! He can now be our official hippie. I'm thinking about you Giok.......And I'm thinking some pretty perverse thoughts................................ Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: Get Well Soon GIOK... From: Paul from Hull Date: 10 Jan 07 - 09:26 AM Ahhhhh! All is now revealed! I never thought of that....him getting other hip done I mean, & because he hadnt posted on here that he was off back to Hospital (& he was only posting to other threads yesterday (I checked before posting the above)) it never occured to me that you were practicing word thrift, Gnu! Well, if you speak to him while he's in Hospital, pass on my best wishes! |

Subject: RE: BS: Get Well Soon GIOK... From: JennyO Date: 10 Jan 07 - 09:16 AM I guess gnu decided to conserve words and copied and pasted his original post. It's equally relevant now, because I believe Giok has gone in to get the other hip done. Hope it all goes well, Giok! |
Subject: RE: BS: Get Well Soon GIOK... From: gnu Date: 10 Jan 07 - 09:15 AM Nope. Twas I what done it. Giok enjoyed it so much the first time, he's after getting the other one done. (I wondered how long it would take.) |
Subject: RE: BS: Get Well Soon GIOK... From: Paul from Hull Date: 10 Jan 07 - 08:58 AM Hmmm...has the Mudcat Server had a bit of a 'brain fart'? Its 'reposted' word-for-word Gnu's post which stated this thread, back last April. |

Subject: RE: BS: Get Well Soon GIOK... From: gnu Date: 10 Jan 07 - 08:05 AM Some might say John 'Giok' MacKenzie is not a hip 'Cat. But, he is a man of great humility and introspection. And, he is a man of action. Realizing this, Dear John has embarked this very day on a journey of self-renewal to the Institution of Raigmore where he will, indeed, get hip. The surgery shall be performed tomorrow and G will be in hospital for about five days, if the staff don't let him out early for bad behaviour. Get well reel soon, in jig time, as it were, G! Miss ya already. g |

Subject: RE: BS: Get Well Soon GIOK... From: Wolfgang Date: 10 May 06 - 11:03 AM Giok, You've been missed in Cork. You'd have particularly liked the biased whisk(e)y tasting session in Jamesons destillery in which three Irish whiskeys won easily against a Scotch, a Bourbon and whatever else. How can an Irish Whiskey win a tasting session against a Scotch you may ask? Easily, the Scotch was Johnny Walker Red label. You would have been proud of our protests when we heard which whisky was to represent Scotland. Well, at least we now know for sure that there are Irish whiskeys that taste better than Johnny Walker, but we would not have doubted that before the session. Anyway, we had a wee dram for your recovery and it seems to have done good. At least to us. Wolfgang |

Subject: RE: BS: Get Well Soon GIOK... From: kytrad (Jean Ritchie) Date: 06 May 06 - 12:44 AM Welcome home. You sound like a youngun, Giok, so you've naught to worry about. My dear George, in his eighties, just broke a hip in a silly fall about a month ago. HE's healing well also, but it will take him a longer time than it will you, to be normal again. Nevertheless, what I tell him I'll tell you: Take it easy and learn to enjoy what you now cannot avoid- a good rest! Best, Jean |
Subject: RE: BS: Get Well Soon GIOK... From: GUEST,SINSULL Date: 05 May 06 - 05:51 PM Home again safe! Good for you. Don't let your legs get tan - it spoils the look of the kilt. White knobby hairy knees and all. Love you, Sir. MAry |

Subject: RE: BS: Get Well Soon GIOK... From: John MacKenzie Date: 03 May 06 - 02:38 PM My Dihydrocodiene says no alchohol to be taken with it, and I have several weeks supply of that!! Bugger! G. |
Subject: RE: BS: Get Well Soon GIOK... From: gnu Date: 03 May 06 - 02:33 PM So good to hear from you, G!!! Now, you just keep in mind that you had a large dose of general anesthetic, so you daresn't be cruising around the loch in that fancy sportycar for a while. When they say no driving for two weeks, they mean it. And, when they say no alcoholic beverages for two weeks, scrrrrrew that! wb G. g |

Subject: RE: BS: Get Well Soon GIOK... From: John MacKenzie Date: 03 May 06 - 11:04 AM Well what can I say, thanks a bunch for all the good wishes and the abundant chuckles. I am back home as of this afternoon, and am still on elbow crutches, full recovery is expected at 6 weeks according to the Docs. Walking is hard work, and it takes a while for the severed muscles to realign themselves and knit together, so movement is limited. Rest assured that I shall NOT be taking up Morris dancing, I can find less strenous excuses for imbibing large amounts of beer. Remember someone once said "You should try everything once, except incest, and folk dancing" a sage piece of advice in my book. Thanks again for all the good wishes, and to the Guest who made the comment about my ongoing tussle with the Shambles, it would have helped of you'd read the previous posts fully! Thanks indeed to Roger for his wishes, and the realisation that our argument is largely idealogical, and not personal like some I could mention!! [Ooh did I say that out loud?] Love you all. Giok BTW I'm having the other one done in about 10/12 weeks!!!!!!!!!! |

Subject: RE: BS: Get Well Soon GIOK... From: George Papavgeris Date: 03 May 06 - 04:09 AM Thanks forn the update Liz. John, remember when you were little, and Mummy would kiss it better when it hurt? Well, if you were expecting the same, tough luck - but best wishes anyway, mate! On the principle that tough b******s heal quickly, you should be all right. Lots of love from Nessie and the fatso. |
Subject: RE: BS: Get Well Soon GIOK... From: Ebbie Date: 02 May 06 - 10:08 PM No, Bill D, she explains patiently. He is currently in Port, and becalmed. |

Subject: RE: BS: Get Well Soon GIOK... From: gnu Date: 02 May 06 - 06:33 PM Sorcha... it would be caber, but Giok has only had one hip done, so, he may stll be listing to Port and his camber might be tossed. |
