Subject: Girvan Folk Festival From: forty two Date: 27 Apr 06 - 12:54 PM Anyone doing Girvan this week-end? I believe the Ailsa has closed - going to become a Tesco store! Shame as it was one of the best session venues in the town. Never mind there will be others elsewhere. |

Subject: RE: Girvan Folk Festival From: forty two Date: 27 Apr 06 - 02:05 PM Girvan? On the Ayrshire coast of Scotland south west of Glasgow. Great festival. Because of its proximity to the ferry boats from Ireland and also not too far from the English border it creates a wonderful mixture of music and song from all the different traditions. There are concerts too, but most go for the sessions. A real musicians festival with a very healthy ratio of musicians to listeners. |

I wish I was going to Girvan this year. Scooby Doo Girvan is in Ayrshire on the west coast of Scotland about midway between Ayr and Stranraer. Chris I think somebody started a thread about this a few days ago - might have been Scabby Doug who has won some Songwriting competitions in Girvan. Are you bringing the whole group to Girvan? |
