Subject: Obit: Eddie Tickner RIP (May 2006) From: GUEST,Mary Katherine Date: 02 May 06 - 03:01 PM Forwarded message: It is with great sadness and a deep loss that I report that Eddie Tickner passed away today in Tucson AZ due to complications from luekemia. He began his career as a manager/accountant for Odetta in the 50s. Eddie and his partner Jim Dickson were the original managers/producers/music publishers of the Byrds, Flying Burrito Bros. Later they would guide the careers in the same role for the Country Gazette, Clarence White and of course Gram Parsons. Finally, it was Eddie who secured a record deal for Emmylou Harris after Gram's death and managed her career through the 80s. Eddie was, simply put, a great man, "wise and kind with age". I know from first hand experience that both Clarence and Gram thought the world of Eddie. They chose him to guide their solo careers, careers however to be cut short in 1973. Please remember Eddie in your prayers and for his widow, Dolores. John Delgatto, Sierra Records |
