Subject: RE: Bernard Carney Tours Uk (May '06) From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 03 May 06 - 05:09 AM you're in for a treat. Bernard is a great entertainer with a repertoire ranging from old singalong stuff to the wonderful songs he writes. "Gardens of Death" has been picked up by the Anti-landmine movement. Subject: RE: Bernard Carney Tours Uk (May '06) From: GUEST,Folkie Date: 09 May 06 - 10:13 AM What a pity he isn't coming anywhere near Worcester. I missed him on his last tour because I was on a trip to Oz just at the time he was over here! |
Subject: RE: Bernard Carney Tours Uk (May '06) From: GUEST,Nicholas Waller Date: 09 May 06 - 03:59 PM Having lived in Worcester once upo a time, I'd have said Newport S Wales can't be _too_ far away, certainly in Oz terms... but unfortunately he was there last week! Just off the M4 (http://www.newportfolkclub.co.uk/loc.htm) |

Subject: RE: Bernard Carney Tours Uk (May '06) From: Northerner Date: 16 May 06 - 12:33 PM I saw Bernard perform at the Sun Inn last night. He was in excellent form and will be warmly welcomed if he fancies making a return visit at some stage. My friend Trevor was giving me a lift home, and we had Ron Angel with us. We were leading the way to the hotel where Bernard and his wife were booked in for the night. Problem was Ron wasn't precisely sure where the hotel was! So there we were past midnight going round in circles round an extremely boring industrial estate in Middlesbrough. Managed to find the hotel eventually, thank goodness. I was beginning to think we were going to go round in circles all night... |
Subject: RE: Bernard Carney Tours Uk (May '06) From: Bugsy Date: 18 May 06 - 04:36 AM Northerner, I was relating your story to an old "Middlesbroughian"(?) friend of mine by the name of Tony Henry who was astonished to hear that Ron could get lost anywhere in Middlesbrough. Glad you enjoyed the show. Cheers Bugsy |
Subject: RE: Bernard Carney Tours Uk (May '06) From: Northerner Date: 18 May 06 - 04:47 AM Hi there Bugsy! Ron sort of knew where the hotel was. He knew you could see this red and yellow building from the main road. But Ron is not a car driver. Getting to this red and yellow building was quite a different matter. I was amazed to see us going round in circles - we kept passing the same signs. I would think, oh I've seen that sign before. The problem was, I think, that we took a turn off from the road too early. Anyway, Trevor eventually got us there. Getting to places is quite different when you're not a car driver. You see vantage points differently. It was a good evening! |
Subject: RE: Bernard Carney Tours Uk (May '06) From: GUEST,Wayne Date: 18 May 06 - 05:23 AM Mr Carney is on at the Topic in Bradford (tonight THURSDAY 18/5)and will be brilliant, as always, but an added bonus is that the featured support is the excellent Mulberry Blue, one of the most exciting new bands on the circuit, so for less than than the price of a couple of pints, you'll have an absolutely splendid evening. Do try and come along, if you can. |
Subject: RE: Bernard Carney Tours Uk (May '06) From: bradfordian Date: 18 May 06 - 08:41 AM He did the Nottingham gig last night. Great, very entertaining. He performs his own material & has CDs. Highly recomendable. |
