Master flute player Brian Owens is visiting from Tasmania, so we're having a one-off special session in the Nova Scotia pub in Bristol.
This will be on Wednesday, 10th May from 8pm onwards.
All welcome, the menu will consist of superb Irish traditional music all night.

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

Thanks for zooming in. I take it that the arrow indicates the location of the pub. Are there regular essions at this pub still. There used to be back in the Pleistocene.

The last time we visited Bristol there was a session at the White Horse or was it the White Stag? Who knows? It was quite dark and smoky and difficult to see, let alone breath!

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

There used to be sessions every Wednesday so us beginner fiddlers could practice making horrendous noise in public, but since the beloved Gill left these shores to set up the very wonderful Kerry Fiddles they tailed away into oblivion. I'm not sure what other regular sessions were on there. Other sessions in Bristol include the Princess of Wales in Bedminster on a Friday, and the Plume of Feathers every other Saturday, as far as I know. Not sure if the Scotchman on a Tuesday is still running or not.

The Princess of Wales session is no more, either. It's been replaced by a session that alternates between two pubs.
Sessions at the moment are:
Monday - Plume of feathers, Hotwells (Anything goes)
Tuesday - Merchants Arms, Hotwells (English mainly)
Wednesday - Nothing I know of
Thursday - Nothing I know of
Friday - Alternates between Plume of Feathers, and the Barley Mow in St Philips.

Weekends are a law unto themselves.

I've tried clicking on the map twice. Both times my screen was promptly obliterated with an unwanted advertising screen that I couldn't get rid of, and I had to bail out altogether, sign off and start again.

(I can't believe anyone would buy from these annoying sites, so why do they bother?)

Thanks for the update. I'll check again when it's closer to October when we might be parachutiing in for a visit, and hopefully some singing.

Thought about going last night but a combination of late work and a bloody great storm (and Hotwells being in the opposite direction from my house when I left work in the pouring rain) meant that to my shame I didn't go. Hope it was a good'un.
