Just curious. Any Catters know and like Clancy Hayes and Bob Scobey? They do New Orleans Style traditional Jazz... Scobey is a fine trumpeter and Hayes mostly plays plectrum banjo (but is also a good guitarist.) As much as anyone, Clancy influenced my style of singing, and just having fun with music. I was reminded of them in the Kitchen Table Thread by the song Everything Is Peachers Down In Georgia, and have been listening to their music as I've been working in my office this morning.

Anybody know their music?

If you don't and you enjoy New Orleans jazz, you should check them out.

Jerry

I remember them from the 1950s Frisco Jazz band. Are they still around?

... They were definitely a Frisco band, John. I don't think anyone is still alive... I know that neither Clancy nor Bob are. I heard the full band in Madison, Wisconsin in the late 50's, and heard Clancy Hayes as a solo performer there, too. He has a wonderful Album out on his own, where he plays guitar as well as banjo. I think that I have just about everything that they ever recorded on CD, now.

I saw Clancy Hayes & Bob Scobey when they played with Lu Waters at Hambone Kellys in El Cerrito in 1947 to 1950. Later Hayes & Scobey played in various clubs around the bay area including Lagayette. I have collected their music and written materials about them but none of the documents I have found contain biographical information re: Clancy Hayes. If anyone knows of such information I would appreciate knowing.
