Subject: Texas Toot (week of early music) From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 20 May 06 - 10:05 AM Do you play early music? Like period instruments? Is your theorbo gathering dust? Do you own a recorder six feet high? or any other size?) Then consider the Texas Toot, Sunday May 28th - Saturday, June 3rd in Austin Texas. I will be there, and it will be my 3rd Toot. The Flanders Recorder Quartet will also be there, teaching and performing. They are wonderful. For more info, go to http://toot.org/ |

Subject: RE: Texas Toot (week of early music) From: MaineDog Date: 20 May 06 - 10:08 AM I am currently building a recorder 4 feet high, maybe next year I'll tackle a contrabass. What do we need to do to get the Flanders Quartet to the Old Songs Festival? MD |

Subject: RE: Texas Toot (week of early music) From: GUEST,leeneia Date: 20 May 06 - 01:54 PM I have no idea about that, Maine Dog. Go to their web site and talk to their agent, I guess. The last time I heard them, they did a concert of the things you'd expect - J.S. Bach etc. Then they came back for an encore -- the Moonlight Serenade, played on the huge basses. The crowd went wild. What kind of recorder are you making that is 4 feet high? I have a bass in F, and it's only 3 feet high. |

Subject: RE: Texas Toot (week of early music) From: MaineDog Date: 20 May 06 - 02:03 PM I am making a Great Bass in C. It's just about twice the size of a tenor. I've got most of the woodworking done, and I am now working on tuning and keys. MD |
