I'll be there.

If anyone fancies a spot of late night music out on the fringe, you'll find me in the Scouts' refreshment tent at the campsite.

Oooh, I've not been to Cleethorpes for years, I used to have many a late night/early morning in the Scouts food tent, but I'm at Chester so I can't go!
I doubt there'd be any of them there I know now, but if there's a leader there called Andy Weisenbourn, can someone say hello to him for me, from the lass who went for a 6am mud walk and swim with him about 8 years ago!

I'll be at Chippenham so will miss Cleethorpes and Chester, sorry.

I remember when Jim Mageean and Johnny Collins were booked at Chippenham and Cleethorpes, early 1980s, and drove from Chippenham to Cleethorpes to perform and then back to perform again at Chippenham.

Muppitz,

There are still some of us old-timers trudging along, so there might be a few friendly faces that you would recognise. I doubt whether Andy will be at Cleethorpes but I'm quite likely to bump into him at another event later in the year. I'll pass on your regards to him.

I do the driving. (Bunny's Duracells only kick in after dark and at least one Guinness). But he will be juggling two plectrums and a banjo all the way.

Chip to Clee to Chip? Respect!! Next year we're just doing Chip - (all four Pipers Sons), unless...

- and I'll be there in my non-musical capacity as one of the drivers on the Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway on Sunday. This is the little railway that runs between the main venue and the campsite. I think I've got the Red Engine "Sutton Belle" - so come and say hello, particularly you, Banjoflower.

Thanks Doug, I'll be impressed if he actually does remember me, it's been a while!

Tom, seeing as Chester is minus a coastline and crazy scouts from Grimsby, I doubt mudswimming is possible, but I will let you know if I manage to achieve it! And just you make sure you don't wear out Bunny's batteries before Friday, it would be a terrible shame if he couldn't perform!

If I were at Chester on my own, I would also attempt a Chester-Cleethorpes flit, but I am not; I'm without car too so it's not an option!

muppitz x

Hello Gerry - no...Lou has the weekend off, it's her turn to watch everyone else do the dancing. And gnomad - we're fairly safe on the Cleethorpes Coast Light Railway, the staff toilet isn't at the end of a siding on this line.....

Our first festival this year is Middlewich Folk and Boat - a new one for us.

Mike

I went to Cleethorpes for the first time this last weekend - had a very nice time at the Singarounds with Geoff and the other one (cant remember his name) at the new RAF club and Willys too.

Hope the last one at Willys went OK - had to go home Sunday night, but I DO actually do a song (Lynne Heraud's) called "7 Long Years since Last I saw my Willy - Oh" sorry you did not hear it !!!

Had a great time but I only saw one Mudcat t-shirt (apart from mine!)
Saw LesB, Villan, Banjo-Flower, Doug Chadwick and Robin Garside - so who did I miss besides jojofolkagogo?
I don't think guests count, Tom, so its time you joined up!

Hi Jo-jo
I enjoyed your songs in Willy's on Sunday. Could only make it for the day this year and I realised on the way to Cleethorpes that I'd left my badge at home.I sing the Harry Eddom song too. It's always interesting to hear it from someone else.

Is OK. Hope you enjoyed the fest. Saw 'Ermon from the train and blew the whistle at him, plus a couple of other former(?)Tats. Had a good weekend myself, 12 hours at the railway on Sunday.

Thinking about it, I feel that the festival could really do with a few evening pub fringe sessions/singarounds outside the ticketed areas of the 'Gardens. Suitable pubs certainly exist and I don't think it would really hurt the festival in terms of revenue. Anyone else have any feelings on that? I know that if current plans to demolish the Winter Gardens in the name of flats comes about the festival will have to have a major re-structure anyway, possibly to one using various differnt event venues, so this may happen anyway.

Yes Guest Mike Rivington

being a virgin cleethorper I felt EXACTLY that, not really much going on in the evening -went to Mucky's but very smoky and not really folky, but enjoyed it just the same - the Fest could definitely do with some singarounds and sessions in some other pubs in the evening.

Was not actually too impressed with the festival at all - small innit?

still, I DID enjoy it, (I'm very easy to please !!)

and thanks to WILLA (?) not sure which one you were, but thanks anyway - yes, its always nice to hear someone else do a song you do - gives you another perspective ...

Jo-Jo
