Subject: RE: Jed Marum CD: Mainly Scots From: JedMarum Date: 23 Jun 06 - 06:26 PM I'm definately interested art ... I was considering a return trip that way next Spring. |
Subject: RE: Jed Marum CD: Mainly Scots From: artbrooks Date: 23 Jun 06 - 05:29 PM OK...went to CD Baby and ordered mine...and a copy of Streets of Fall River while I was there. BTW, I went and looked at your concert schedule...remember, the road runs both ways! I might could put you in touch with some house concert people in Albuquerque if you are interested... |
Subject: RE: Jed Marum CD: Mainly Scots From: JedMarum Date: 23 Jun 06 - 10:26 AM Marion - I had half a mind to include "Return to Loch Moy" in this project. BUT I want to rerecord and rearrange the song in a more elaborate fashion then fits the MAINLY SCOTS approach (these are all live recordings, no overdubs, no edits). So I decided to hold that song for another project. So; no it is not retired, thanks for asking! A bit of Canadian content? I have in mind a Canadian oriented project one day. Lots to choose from and I've collected a few stories for songs too. We'll see. Can't say about the surprises ... things are still unsettled ... but moving along. |
Subject: RE: Jed Marum CD: Mainly Scots From: GUEST,scotchman Date: 22 Jun 06 - 05:49 PM Terriers, whisky, mithers, butter, pies, tomatoes, lawyers, ... can you narrow minded scaotchmen not see that scotch is an adjective only refused by scotchmen with chips on their shoudlers like railway sleepers? |
Subject: RE: Jed Marum CD: Mainly Scots From: Marion Date: 22 Jun 06 - 04:05 PM I got my copy a couple of weeks ago. My favourites are Roddy McCorley and MacPherson's Farewell. It was also nice to see a bit of Canadian content (Angus Fraser). And that line "the cares of tomorrow can wait till this day is done." I did think that "Return to Loch Moy" was conspicuously absent - hope you haven't retired that song, Jed. Though it is kind of hard to sing because of the range of pitch. So can you tell us the surprise yet? Cheers, Marion (who has worn a kilt and never worried about being manly) |
Subject: RE: Jed Marum CD: Mainly Scots From: JedMarum Date: 27 May 06 - 04:51 PM The Civil War CD is aobut half originals. I have aded a few somgs from froms (like Mudcatter Kim C) and a couple from the period. ... never wore a kilt ... never worried about being manly, either .. woldn;t connect the two ;-) speculation? shouldn;t say 'til I'm ready. don;t want to jinx it. |
Subject: RE: Jed Marum CD: Mainly Scots From: John MacKenzie Date: 27 May 06 - 12:08 PM The thing is Tim, the people who use Scotch wrongly know they are doing so incorrectly, and they think it annoys we Scots. We have more intelligence than to let such tomfoolery wind us up. I've been insulted by experts, and these rank amateurs don't even touch the surface. Giok |
Subject: RE: Jed Marum CD: Mainly Scots From: Big Tim Date: 27 May 06 - 11:39 AM "Scots" sounds OK to me (and I've lived in Scotland since 1953). Scots don't like being called "Scotch", which, conventional wisdom has it, should be applied only to terriers and whisky. |
Subject: RE: Jed Marum CD: Mainly Scots From: Marion Date: 27 May 06 - 07:33 AM have one more surprise up my sleeve, but just can't say anything yet ... Are you sure you want us to be speculating about what this surprise is? |

Subject: RE: Jed Marum CD: Mainly Scots From: GUEST Date: 26 May 06 - 12:17 AM the songs are mainly about Scots ... hence the title ... the Civil War album is also no frills - but does have some multitrack, and may have a guest player or two, haven't decided yet. have one more surprise up my sleeve, but just can;t say anything yet ... |
Subject: RE: Jed Marum CD: Mainly Scots From: GUEST,Tam Date: 25 May 06 - 04:38 PM The title disnae mak sense. It should be 'mainly Scottish' as 'Scots' means mair than wan Scot. Or can Ah ask 'Mainly Scots' whit? |
