Subject: From Max: Mudcat Update From: Max Date: 25 May 06 - 02:12 PM Here's half an update. The other half is at least a week or two away. First, today I am having Fiber Optics installed to my house in an effort to improve reliability. 9 out of 10 times that the Mudcat is down is due to our ADSL line losing its connection. After replacing my router 3 times, it is clear that no router can help. Fiber Optics is a small capital investment. It'll cost me a few hundred dollars extra for June, but assuming all goes well, it will save me about $150 per month from that point forward. A no-brainer really. Secondly, Emily and I are expecting our 2nd child (I have a daughter, Alexis now 16, from a previous marriage). Looks to be a November baby. All is well so far with the baby, but Emily gets very ill with pregnancy, so this will certainly be our last child. We're toughing through it all pretty well, Emily is one tough cookie. Lily is very excited to have a sibling. Won't know if its a boy or girl till it pops out. Jeff and I have begun the task of fixing some of the problems with the mudcat as well as implementing a few new features to combat certain annoyances. I will explain more in a week or two. I think I'm forgetting at least one more thing, but I guess I can post it later. Cheers. |

I never could quite grasp the theory behind thermodynamics, let alone any application to real life. I was initially intrigued by the Heisinberg Uncertainty Principle and Planck's Constant, which as I recollect if the Constant were rather larger than claimed I might not even be able to find my way back home reliably sober. That reminds me of an old song called "Charlie the Midnight Marauder," I wonder why? How else could I have got to make friends from Simcoe County, Ontario to North Carolina to England, Scotland and Germany? How else could I have found a home away from home in the Press Room in Portsmouth, NH? What are the chances I would ever have been able to sing with people like Bonnie Milner, Joy Bennett, Heather Wood, John Roberts, Kendall Morse and Jeff Warner? What was the likelihood of me being able to learn German outlaw songs from Wolfgang and Wilfried Schaum, or walk into a session full of complete strangers in France and find myself immediately at home? I remember you two running off for an illegal ocean skinny-dip in the night during Annamill's wedding reception. It's hard to imagine the two of you acting like adults. I hope it's not a constant state. I seem to notice the rapid-fire (as in 10-15 in a row in the same thread within a minute or two) spam has diminished. If that's related to your work, thanks! If one of the things included in "implementing a few new features to combat certain annoyances" involves methods to reduce trolling and sniper attacks, I'd be happy. A healthy, varied diet rather than chugging Gatorade is going to make the difference. I discovered that vitamin B-6 and eating small amounts of protien during the day helped, especially when it came to preventing the elephant ankles that can occur with the heat and retention. SRS |
