Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update From: number 6 Date: 21 Jul 06 - 07:09 PM Good one Jeri ... I've had one of 'those dogs' before. sIx |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update From: Jeri Date: 21 Jul 06 - 07:08 PM ...I think it was the last, though. |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update From: Jeri Date: 21 Jul 06 - 07:06 PM I can't remember the guy's name. If I recall correctly (and I'm not 100% sure), he did apologize, and Bruce indicated it wasn't a big deal, that it wsn't the first time the dog had an unfortunate encounter with a car. |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update From: katlaughing Date: 21 Jul 06 - 07:05 PM Ah, I thought you meant something this year, Jeri. I remember the threads about annamill's get-togethers. NJ has never been the same since she left, has it? Er, well maybe a bit with Big Mick there, now?:-) |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update From: number 6 Date: 21 Jul 06 - 06:54 PM So who was the guy who ran over Bruce Springsteen's dog? Did he apologize? sIx |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update From: Jeri Date: 21 Jul 06 - 06:37 PM Kat, it was in NJ in - was it 2000? It was when annap became annamill. It was on the beach, and I remember the guy who ran over Bruce Springsteen's dog (because he'd written a song about it) was there, and Roger in Baltimore was there, and Bert, and we helped them move into their new house. It was great, but every time I was at her place, whenever and wherever that was, was great. |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update From: Clinton Hammond Date: 21 Jul 06 - 01:30 PM "Jeff and I have made massive progress on the mudcat fixes." Great news indeed! |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update From: katlaughing Date: 21 Jul 06 - 01:22 PM Annamill's wedding recption??!! Where did I miss this??!! |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update From: John MacKenzie Date: 21 Jul 06 - 10:21 AM I figgered November from his original post, just in time for the Getaway. Giok |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update From: Stilly River Sage Date: 21 Jul 06 - 10:21 AM At this point in a more advanced pregnancy and this time of year the problems are more likely water retention and keeping the electrolytes in good order than morning sickness. A healthy, varied diet rather than chugging Gatorade is going to make the difference. I discovered that vitamin B-6 and eating small amounts of protien during the day helped, especially when it came to preventing the elephant ankles that can occur with the heat and retention. SRS |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update From: Jeri Date: 21 Jul 06 - 09:49 AM Ginger (I like the candied stuff) helps with nausea, too, but I don't know how good it is for morning sickness. Did you say when the baby's due? (I know the liklihood that question will be answered is pretty slim, since 1) Max has choo-choo-chooed to Chatanooga, and 2) It's Max I'm askin'. I remember you two running off for an illegal ocean skinny-dip in the night during Annamill's wedding reception. It's hard to imagine the two of you acting like adults. I hope it's not a constant state. I seem to notice the rapid-fire (as in 10-15 in a row in the same thread within a minute or two) spam has diminished. If that's related to your work, thanks! If one of the things included in "implementing a few new features to combat certain annoyances" involves methods to reduce trolling and sniper attacks, I'd be happy. In any case, have fun and stay cool. |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update From: GUEST, Topsie Date: 21 Jul 06 - 04:57 AM On morning sickness, I always found salty crisps (chips in US) did the job. I'd discovered it for car sickness as a child - and still resort to them on mornings after I've had a bit too much to drink. |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update From: John MacKenzie Date: 20 Jul 06 - 04:45 AM Pardon me Max, is that the cat that chewed your new shoes? Nice one boss, nice to hear Emily is blooming, albeit a hothouse bloom, hope Lily's not wearing her out too. Best wishes to you all. Giok |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update From: Matt_R Date: 20 Jul 06 - 03:04 AM Wow, lots of stuff happened while I was away. Max and Emily ... that is awesome. |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update From: bobad Date: 20 Jul 06 - 12:39 AM The fixes and stability have not gone unnoticed and unappreciated Max. Thank you for your effort and wishing you and Emmy all the best in your forthcoming production. |

Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update From: JedMarum Date: 20 Jul 06 - 12:05 AM Woo Hoo. We love you Max - and wish you, the baby and her soon to be Mom all the very best! |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update From: Max Date: 19 Jul 06 - 11:25 PM Emmy is OK. Yes it's been really hot, and she's hotter, but we're managing OK. She says to make sure to say "Being pregnant in the summer stinks!" Jeff and I have made massive progress on the mudcat fixes. We're excited again, and can't wait to finish it. How about that? Since June 1, we've been up and running very very close to 100%. Off to the south... I'll be in chattanooga for the next several days. If anyone is down there, shoot me a line. |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update From: Stilly River Sage Date: 19 Jul 06 - 07:51 PM I groan in sympathy every time I see a pregnant woman this time of year. My first was born Aug. 30, which is why my second was born March 7. Keep your feet up when you can, and good luck! SRS |

Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update From: katlaughing Date: 18 Jul 06 - 10:37 PM Max, any news, yet, on the second half of the update and how's Emily doing, esp. in the heat? Thanks, kat |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update From: GUEST,Marty Date: 29 May 06 - 10:37 AM Hi Don, The Nashville sounds cool, which model is it, I'm after a Super De Luxe model. These are superb instruments, you are lucky to have found one. |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update From: Big Mick Date: 28 May 06 - 12:57 PM Right friggin' on, Edmund, old buddy. And I would not have been introduced to some extraordinary beers!!!! I am going to get up your way yet. Hugs to both. Mick |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update From: CET Date: 28 May 06 - 12:49 PM Congratulations, Max!! As for the criticism, most of it is well intentioned, and some of it actually makes good sense. The whiners and malcontents, as far as I'm concerned, can take a long run off a short pier. You have created something extraordinary, and in my case it is not too much to say, life transforming. How else could I have got to make friends from Simcoe County, Ontario to North Carolina to England, Scotland and Germany? How else could I have found a home away from home in the Press Room in Portsmouth, NH? What are the chances I would ever have been able to sing with people like Bonnie Milner, Joy Bennett, Heather Wood, John Roberts, Kendall Morse and Jeff Warner? What was the likelihood of me being able to learn German outlaw songs from Wolfgang and Wilfried Schaum, or walk into a session full of complete strangers in France and find myself immediately at home? You are doing great work and don't let anybody tell you different. Edmund |

Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update From: kytrad (Jean Ritchie) Date: 27 May 06 - 06:49 PM What diplomacy, Max- I have to hand it to you (with my congratulations)... you KNEW that none of us would be grouchy at the occasional Mudcat problems- if you lumped the news in with telling us about the new baby. Very good- it reinforces the feeling of family that all Mudcatters have! Long live Family and Friendship! Jean |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update From: Tannywheeler Date: 27 May 06 - 04:35 PM That's a good one, Jeri. Keep workin' on it. Alright, Emily--ginger, the pithy part of an orange--do you already know about soda crackers? They helped me some. Awful to carry a baby during the hottest part of the year, but apparently that'll be the earlier part of the pregnancy. I had one at the end of August in Austin, Texas. God--the heat and exhaustion--but got over piddlin' tummy upset early, so didn't have to suffer that too much. NEWPERSONNEWPERSONNEWPERSONNEWPERSON.......hoooooooRRAAWW!!!!! (does anyone remember an old Doonesbury strip just after a baby was born? Two guys-one's the dad-looking at infant and wow-she's-beautiful-ing; one of them says to the other, "Let's not teach her about ar-ay-see-eye-ess-em.", the other one says, "I'm hip.") Tw |

Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update From: Jeri Date: 26 May 06 - 05:36 PM Getaway: Labor songs workshop. My start at one (a parody, although the tune I know's a bit different): Push, push, push, push, And bear down on the kid Squeeze him toward the portal Just like your momma did Grab ahold of daddy dear Forget it he never shall When baby navigated Down the birth-I-ing canal |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update From: Bill D Date: 26 May 06 - 04:44 PM Jenny..."Paddy Doyle" sounds just the ticket for the final push! |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update From: artbrooks Date: 26 May 06 - 04:43 PM Clearly it wasn't...or do you think there was another reason that the Cat has often been out of service until 10:00 am or so, Mudcat time? :>) |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update From: beardedbruce Date: 26 May 06 - 04:31 PM Giok, "With Umbilical Chords of course." Remind me to bring you a case of Old Dominion to the Getaway for that! Max, WHile we appreciate all your work, get your priorities straight- the fiber optics, while nice (and cost effective) should not have been the first item on your mind... 8-{E |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update From: gnu Date: 26 May 06 - 03:04 PM Like I said on the "name the baby" thread... Awwww, a baby!!!! Congrats. |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update From: JennyO Date: 26 May 06 - 02:16 PM I'm not entirely convinced that such shanty singing would be welcome at the actual birth Aw, I dunno Charlie - I reckon "Paddy Doyle's Boots" would do the job nicely :-) |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update From: John MacKenzie Date: 26 May 06 - 01:59 PM The Parturition Shanty, with a chorus that goes, Heave away, push away. With Umbilical Chords of course. G. I'll get me surgical mask !! |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update From: Charley Noble Date: 26 May 06 - 01:52 PM BillD- A baby haulin' shanty, or launching shanty? I'll have to think about that one. Now if Max and his darling Emily would call the kid "Joe" or "Rosie" we could certainly work something up rather briskly. However, I'm not entirely convinced that such shanty singing would be welcome at the actual birth. Frankly it scares me just to think of it! Cheerily, Charley Noble |
Subject: RE: From Max: Mudcat Update From: Wesley S Date: 26 May 06 - 01:39 PM My advise to eveyone expecting a little one is to start stocking up on diapers now. And to also make a double batch of any dinner you make so you'll have some to freeze. You won't feel like cooking later. |
