I must admit to a level of surprise that I am posting this on Friday !! Wonderful Bass player Jack died on Monday aged 90 - A Damn Good Run !!
Jack Fallon was one of the Stalwarts of the English Jazz scene , despite being of Canadian nationality , and came to Britain with the Royal Canadian Air Force band . He seems to have played with most of the greats , including George Shearing , Django Reinhart and Duke Ellington . Among the more Folkie singers he backed was Josh White .
He also played violin on the Beatles White Album .
Another good old boy gone to join the Great Jam Session in the sky !

Another of the stalwarts of the music scene before it became the music industry. I remember Jack often working with Steve Benbow in the sixties at the Ballads and Blues club with Bass and Fiddle. It was obvious that he was doing it because he enjoyed it, fees for folk gigs were never that good. Also knew him as an agent. He was always what I would call a genuine guy with a good sense of humour.
Yes, some good memories.

May he rest in peace.

Jack will be missed by all.I had the great fortune to know Jack.I work as a musician and I have used Cana Variety for about 7 years.Whenever I spoke to Jack,it was truly speaking to a true gentleman.
I had no idea of the breadth of his work and Jack being as modest as he was would never give away details.I remember when he told me two years ago when he was made a city freeman. He was very pleased and chuffed.Jack was a joy to deal with and I will miss my regular phone conversations with him.
I really wish Id picked his brains about his work with these legends though.Heres to you Jack.God Speed.
