Subject: RE: CBS, Finest Kind, CMR in Derby on Sunday From: bradfordian Date: 04 Jun 06 - 05:34 PM Review. CBS, CMR, Finest Kind. Deby Assembly Rooms 4 June 2006 A modest sized audience of about 250 folk music fans were given a superb show by three accomplished harmony groups. Starting off the concert were Coope Boyes & Simpson (3 guys)who were in fine form in the accoustically excellant Darwin Room. The second set was given by Craig; Morgan; Robson (3 women) with their wonderful blend of voice, style, and material. At the end of their set, they teamed with CBS for a six part harmony. The final set was presented by Canada's Finest Kind on their first British tour as a trio. Let me tell you, these two men and one woman produced a depth of range that had my hair at the back of my neck tingling. At the end of this set, all nine vocalists joine together for a rare treat. Thank you Canada for sending these folks over the pond, and for those of you in the UK, check out their tour dates and give yourself a treat. Highly recommended. (You don't get CBS & CMR as well, though!!!) |

Subject: RE: CBS, Finest Kind, CMR in Derby on Sunday From: MoorleyMan Date: 05 Jun 06 - 04:04 PM Mmm, the concert was a veritable feast, and the memory will be ringing in my ears for some considerable time. I'm already looking forward to seeing Finest Kind again - they were one of my "discoveries" of 2004, and I'd been eager to see them perform live ever since, so finally getting to do so yesterday was An Event, at which they excelled even my expectations. Big thanks to Mick and Celia for organising Finest Kind's UK tour. |
