There were actually a number of different options I considered regarding Little Hawk's potential Christmas morning joy. I decided not to get too salacious because he usually takes a dim view of that sort of thing regarding Winona.

Being in the public eye has it's downside at times. Music is full of potshots at the rich and famous. Winona isn't an exception. Sorry for the offense.

That verse doesn't rhyme or scan quite well enough to be in my song. Close...but no cigar. And it's mean.

I accept the fact that Winona is not perfect. Evidently she has some emotional problems. Well, so do a lot of people. Take Chongo, for instance. My buddy the chimp. He is stuck in a cultural time warp. He wants to be a simian Philip Marlowe and he fantasizes about slinky human "dames" in slit skirts with page boy haircuts (I think that's what they're called...the kind where the hair is straight, usually black, bangs at the front, cut fairly short and curling in around the back and sides...it was a popular look in the 20's and 30's). He goes nuts for that look.

You could pick on Chongo over the rough points in his personality, and completely miss the good points, which are many.   He's a loyal friend, he has tremendous courage, a good sense of humour, and is very resourceful and tenacious and hard-working. He's a born romantic and his word is his bond. There's a lot to be said for that.

I think you're looking at Winona through the wrong end of the telescope, buddy, and maybe you oughta check out the beam in your own eye before you go picking on her.

Actually it is 'I Was There At The Beginning Man', no comma after beginning LH. The absence of the comma is critical. A comma might suggest I was saying to someone "Hey you know what? I was there at the beginning of this thread, man", in a hippyish sort of way. However man without the comma refers to my evolutionary state. Remember in 85 billion years the human race will probably have changed quite a lot. Compare rather to Bronze Age man or Iron Age man etc. I hope this clears up the matter and apologise if I have mislead or confused people in any way. This certainly was not my intention.

Little Hawk, I have learned many things while visiting this thread for the last few days and when I return to the 85 billion thread (for return I shall) it will be as a more humble person. No longer shall I threaten to quit the thread forever unless I am begged to return and it doesn't work anyway. No longer shall I see this thread as a rival to the 85 billion thread as Whizzer was to Chips. Instead I shall see the 5000 thread as a spiritual sanctuary in difficult times and as a teacher of hard but important lessons. I shall also see it as a way of getting you and Winona together.
