Harbor Seals are cute.

You would have to love her from afar, though. I used harbor seal because I thought it sounded good (still do), but it turns out they live strictly in the northern hemisphere (I just checked). I would guess there are not a lot of natural harbor seal-penguin interactions. It is leopard seals that eat penguins.

LH, have you calculated how old you are going to be by the time that happens - given how long it has taken us to 523 posts?

Winona may feel that you are a tad old for her by that time. Hell - SHE will be too old!

Not exactly. This thread reappeared when some stupid random spammer robot refreshed it with a post about prescription drugs you can buy on the internet. A clone then deleted that post, so you don't see it anymore. In the meantime I posted again to the thread, accordingly it's back on the board again.

Slowly, slowly, I make my way toward my rendezvous with Winona.

I've been downunder for five weeks and when I get back I find that you lot have been slacking and haven't advanced this thread in line with my predictions. Little Hawk I am most disappointed with you, you have a stake in this thread and you know that Winona is waiting. Phew, it's been a long journey but hopefully worth it. I'm on holiday here for a few days to relax and get away from aliengate on the 85 billion thread. If the posters there aren't being abducted, they're under suspicion of being aliens themselves.

So I'm here to meditate and learn from the wise sages that frequent this thread from time to time. I'll just unpack and hopefully someone will begin the first session.

I have just finished watching 2 great movies with Winona that I had not seen before.

Girl Interrupted - terrific performances in this one all-around. Angelina Jolie was given a dynamite role to play in this movie, and she ACED it! Wow. Winona was excellent too, as was the rest of the cast.

Age of Innocence - A brilliantly subtle, atmospheric, and powerful movie about the exquisite cruelty of social conformity and convention among the rich elite of New York in the 1870s. Winona gets to play, for a change, a woman who is apparently not terribly bright...but she turns out in the end to have been a bit smarter than anyone might have thought. Daniel Day-Lewis is marvelous, as always and ditto for Michelle Pfeiffer. This is a movie for people who think, but not for people who want to watch things blow up "real good".

That's why I like Winona. She has subtlety, and in an age when subtlety is not much appreciated or even acknowledged by the general public, she has managed to bring it to many of the parts she has played. The same goes for Daniel Day-Lewis. He's a truly great actor.

KB it will get to 500 if you just occasionally give it a nudge (just as you have done now), but don't get emotionally involved with this thread because if you do you will be in danger of messing up my prediction, and LH would have to take on his task before he is psychologically ready for it.
