THIS IS A MODERATED PERMATHREAD

The purpose of this permathread is to list locations large and small that hire folk performers to facilitate perfomers and venues finding each other. What I really have in mind is the long distance traveling performer, see the other permathread on Who's Touring Where/When, but can be used locally as well. It will also help the audience find out about nearby locales.

This will be arranged by state (US)/province (Canada)/county (UK) like the song cirlce thread I maintain. The host/booking person can list as much or little info as he/she wishes - such as listing e-mail rather than phone for contact. A typical listing should include most of:
    State/Province/County
    City
Type/Size: (300 seat auditorium, 50 seat coffeehouse, 20 seat house concert)
Dates active (every Sunday, first Thursday, etc.)
Type of Music Scheduled: (Traditional, Irish, Bluegrass, Songwriter, Fiddle only, etc)
    Contact:
Other info: (annual schedule set by June, or whatever)
    Website, if applicable

Let's give this a try.
This is an edited PermaThread®, intended to provide up-to-date information about folk venues. This thread will be edited by Susan of DT. Feel free to post to this thread, but remember that all messages posted here are subject to editing or deletion.

It still works you have to look in the permathreads list to find it.

There are two permathreads I started last year - this one and the who is touring where/when. They can only be useful if people use them, so it is a circle. If performers don't post their future tour info, then people won't go there to find out who's touring, so people won't post if they are touring. Likewise the venues. My idea was that venues would look at the who's touring to plan bookings and the performers would look at the venues thread to fill in dates on their tours. The suggested time for performer posting is 4 to 12 months in advance. So far it has not caught on. It seems to me that mudcat would be ideal for this info exchange to get performers more bookings and venues know that someone is touring in thier area in time to schedule them. Everyone would win.

I also maintain the song circle permathread which certainly has more info. I don't know if people are using that one or not, since most use of the thread would not involve posting to it.

I'll refresh the other two, so people will be reminded that they exist.
