Okay, okay, Elmer.

I looked at the first couple of posts and it occurs to me that if I'm trawling through looking for questions not answered, I might as well do the other list at the same time.

So, is this what it means to be a Decider?

Luckily, because of my the Virgo rising/Virgo Mars, I like this kinda thing.

[that last reference was made with kudos to Daylia, and aut-oh! no one answered that one yet!]

ha! ha!

Well, here's the list that Elmer requested.
As you will see, I copied the original phrasing of the question/comment, but-in some cases-added a clarifying comment.

See the key to that list and my preliminary comments.

Key:
[CRN]= Correct response{s} needed means that {as far as I can tell, the correct response had not been posted by the time this list was prepared.

[?] Response given as question

****

Please help with any corrections to this list, including Questions and/or Answers that I might have missed. "Proofreading" is definitely not my strong suit.

Also, if there are additional correct answers for certaine questions please post them. Your help with this will be appreciated.

Let me also note that while compiling this list, one of these questions may be a repeat of a previous question, but I kept it in the list. However, I did remove what I considered to be rhetorical questions from the list, and placed them without numbers below the actual list.

I recognize that there may be folks who think that all or some of these questions should be on the actual list, and some questions that I kept on the list, should be in the Rhetorical Questions List, and maybe they should. I'm open to the possibility of questions/comments being moved.

Without any further ado, here's the initial list:

Packin' heat means you either carry arms or can legally do so to defend yourself or others with lethal force. Going huntin' means you use arms as a means to obtain food (no other reason to GO huntin').

Off topic, but it seems that in Black communities, 'packing heat' refers to having a concealed weapon {usually a handgun}. See these excerpts from http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=packing+heat

The numbers appearing with definition refer to site visitors' up or down ratings of the definitions other visitors have sent in of the featured slang terms.

1.packing heat 32 up, 3 down

Having a concealed firearm for protection or to carry out violence.

"Don't come to Brick City, unless yo' packing heat."

2. packing heat 19 up, 1 down

To carry a firearm. Usually refers to the act of carrying a handgun.

Not many people know it, but sweet little old lady Smith is always packing heat.

3. packing heat 4 up, 2 down

A term referring to carrying a weapon with you. A small example is a concealed weapon, but a better one would be being heavily-armed with a machinegun.

"Daniel Pearl should've been packing heat over there. Damn customs."

-snip-

Some of the other definitions go into a whole 'nuther sexualized meaning, but I know no one here would be interested in that.

:o)

Off topic again.

It seems to me that Rapaire's 25 Jun 06 - 12:18 AM post and Elmer's 25 Jun 06 - 12:44 AM post concur with the definitions that I shared from the urban dictionary website [with the exception that those definitions emphasized the 'concealed' nature of the guns].

As to the other definitions that I didn't share, I can't say one way or the other if Rapaire and/or Elmer would agree with them.

But it aint my bizness to know.

3.Which Mudcatter has a fondness for creatures of the night that most often are associated with a yearly holiday?
Bat Goddess?

Yep-Bat Goddes was who I was thinking of.

"Name a Mudcatter whose real name is a homonym for a non-motorized form of transportation.
I didn't understand Skipy..."

I thought 'Skipy' was a play on the word "skipping".
So I guess that answer isn't correct.

Of course, in the USA, I don't think I'm the only one who thinks of peanut butter when I hear the name 'Skippy'.

"I took it to mean Skip-y as in a skip that you put your rubbish in, or would that be an unfair comparison?"

So a 'skip' is like a trash can {garbage pail}?

Is this a UK colloquialism?

It's one of those big bulding site rubbish containers that are delivered and collected by a specially designed lorry (or truck).

Azizi, I believe "skip" in the UK is equivalent to "dumpster" in the US.

By the way, and totally off-topic, the term "dumpster" in the US is one of those cases where a trade-name has been adopted generically. One of the pioneers in large-container refuse systems was named Dempster, and he called his company "Dempster Dumpster".

Thanks Les. I think those large containers are called trash 'bins' in the USA, but I'm not sure.

And- it just occurred to me-is that what folks meant when they sang "Skip to my Lou"?

Naw. Words can have more than one meaning. I figure in that song someone was telling someone else to skip to a girl [or a boy?] name Lou...

So enough of bins, and garbage pails and trash cans.. what is the correct response to that non-motorized form of transportation name?

I think whoever answered "skipy" might have been thinking of Skippy the Bush Kangaroo, which would be about as useful a method of transport as my answer, Dead Horse. So it looks like the real answer is still out there!

Skip to my loo. Isn't that the reminder that infant teachers have the class sing before playtime! (or does it mean left or something)
Yes EmmaB has a real name with initials MB. It was my maiden name too, so when we met at a dance club years ago it wasn't hard to remember her name.
'Which Mudcatter is colour co-ordinated right down to his skivvies?'
Mr. Red. (skivvies? I've not seen him with servants)

Which Mudcatters name sounds like her real initials?
K.T.

Which Mudcatter is colour co-ordinated right down to his skivvies?
Mr. Duck
(but I have to add that is what I heard. I can't testify to it from first-hand experience. Mrs. Duck is not one to mess with or should I say is not one with whom to mess?)

Answer: The Mudcatter with the eye in the middle of his "instrument" is, of course, Dr. Guitar.

Question: Which Mudcatter is Dr. Guitar when not being Dr. Guitar?

RS

Please help me out here.

Which is the correct answer to this question:

Which Mudcatters name sounds like her real initials?
K.T. or Emma B? Or both?

And which answer is correct for this question?
Which Mudcatter is colour co-ordinated right down to his skivvies?
Mr. Red or Mr. Duck or both

Also, I thought skivvies meant underwear, but Mo's comment about servants leds me to believe that maybe this may be another example of colloquialisms being different in different cultures.

skivvies=servants or underwear or both???

I have my suspicions but I don't really want to know. S/He is my guru.

Question: Which Mudcatter is Dr. Guitar when not being Dr. Guitar?

RS"

-snip-

Redsnapper, didn't you read the rules that I the ruler made?

The rule is "The poster must not put his or her name or initials at the end of his or her post."

If the poster's name or initials are written below his or her question than readers may confuse that with the answer to the question he or she is giving.

Now, is that clear?

Good.

I-the mighty Ruler-have spoken. [or "written" as the case may be]

You, redsnapper, may now go forth and sin no more.

;o))

Well I had EmmaB in mind when I set the question, but there may be other answers.
And a skivvy used to the little servant girl who got all the worst work, I hadn't heard another meaning, but England and Scotland don't speak the same language either.
I've never (knowingly)seen Mr. Duck but Mr. Red is certainly co-ordinated, even his bodhran is red. Is he a Mudcatter? I've seen him on my screen somewhere as well as at festivals and on his website http://www.users.waitrose.com/~cresby/
No-one's answered my other one yet
Mudcatter named after her canal boat (she's my daughter too)
