Subject: RE: What's on @ RadioBritfolk From: Lizzie Cornish Date: 03 Jul 06 - 08:17 AM HAPPY BRITHDAY RADIO BRITFOLK FOLK!!! Mmmmmmm.....No 5 looks Grrrrrrrrreat! And will Tim be wearing full Morris Costume for No 3 George? (Oh! I DO hope so!) ;0) No 2...could be linked to No 5 in a way ;0).. ..although....I think they should have let No 1 be the interviewer for No 2, he'd have had much more fun! Ohhhh!.....and No 4! Should that even be allowed? Particularly without any Health & Safety regulations...and *especially* with No 5 being there as well! Thank goodness No 6 is there to chill out to for 3 hours at the end of it all! What a PARTY this is going to be! But...WHERE is No 7...????????? 'Shanty Jack's Shanty Shongs Shummer Shea-Shide Shpecial' ???????? I *suppose* I could listen *twice* to No 4 and *thrice* to No 5 to make up for it....but nope...I think we defintely need a No 7 as well! And WHY....now this has always fascinated me...WHY are there hardly ever any replies on Radio Britfolk threads, either here or on the BBC? They are making such fantastic programmes, giving such support to so many artists, linking up with all sorts of other people to make the Future Of Folk ever stronger...and basically all working their socks off for 'everyone out there'....and yet.....hardly anyone ever bothers to reply! 'Tis a mystery! Lizzie :0) (A Britfolk Babe) ;0) |

Subject: RE: What's on @ RadioBritfolk From: Anne Lister Date: 03 Jul 06 - 04:09 PM To answer Lizzie's question ... probably because most of the busy folks of RBF are busy with gigs, recording progs, doing all the stuff you said and writing music rather than hanging around here on MudCat! But it's good to be appreciated, so I'm sure your comments will reach the right ears. Anne |

Subject: RE: What's on @ RadioBritfolk From: George Papavgeris Date: 04 Jul 06 - 07:22 AM On behalf of Kate Bramley, RadioBritfolk coordinator: We're very excited about the programmes coming up this month to mark our 1st birthday celebrations, and must mention they're made possible, in part, by our recent grant from the lottery. To give you a taster of what is coming up: July 3rd sees the premiere of Pete Coe's new series 'An Ear to the Ground' that looks at some of the pioneering work done by folk labels in the UK. In his first show he talks with John Howson of Veteran Records and plays some classic tracks. Also the first concert from the Radio Britfolk Live concert recorded last year features a half hour live set from the amazing Steve Tilston. Steve is a songwriter and guitarist at the height of his game, and gives a magical performance in this programme. There will also be a Morris Special in Tim Moon's regular 'Focus' programme, a look at the female singer-songwriter scene in Janis Haves monthly show 'Its a girl thing', and also we're very pleased to be presenting the first in a two part series on the legendary Show of Hands, playing tracks from their brand new album as well as other solo projects. We've just heard today that the second programme, tabled for later this month will feature rare tracks from Steve Knightley's own archives. And thats just the first week of programmes! July 10th sees a great programme from Chris Sweeney about John Tams, as well as Ali O'Briens fortnightly round-up of all things folk, and special Smallpipes workshops with Vicki Swan that run for the rest of the month. From 10th July we'll be featuring a programme a week from the archives, and we start with Ben Sands' excellent 'Ulster Folk' followed by 'A sense of time and place' that looks at the diverse range of music across Wales, Ireland, Scotland and England. |
