I wasn't familiar with this band, but I want to learn more. The singer, Karan Casey, sang a beautiful ballad that blew me away and I'd like to get the album with that song on it first. Anyone know the name of the song or which album? It was on the Feb. 20 show.

Thanks, Chet

Any clue as to some words in this song? I know of most of her songs. Lyrics too. Laurel

Why not get to http://www.geocities.com/BourbonStreet/3034/solas_rev.html ?

You can see some CDs at http://www.musicblvd.com/cgi-bin/tw/0705233088919725612_42_280126.

Say, Ralph - when does Prairie Home Companion make available the RealAudio recording of the past week's show? It's Monday, 22 February, and the most recent show available is from 13 February. What day of this week will they make the 20 February show available?
You're supposed to be able to view the show live (yup, view), but the site gets overcrowded on Saturdays and I haven't been able to get in. Heck, you'd think it was Victoria's Secret or something like that.

I know it sounds sappy but the voice was so beautiful I didn't remember any of the words. I'll check the PHC webpage as soon as the last show is available.

Thanks, Chet

The show is now avalable on Realaudio on the Prairie Home Companion archive. Looks like they have the whole show available now, and not just segments - click here.

Hi,

The more I hear of Karan Casey the more I want to hear..... she has such a beautiful voice....

The song appears to be A Chomaraigh Aobhinn... which seems to be on the CD

The words that remain - Solas

Thanks, all. After identifying the song I guess (meekly) that one reason I didn't remember any words is that it was in Gaelic. I'm going right out to buy it.

"A Chomaraigh Aoibhinn O" refers to the Comeragh Mountains in Waterford, Ireland. Karan learned the song from Aine Ui Chealaigh, a very fine singer living in the same area. She has a CD or two also.

Sorry for going back on this thread. But I am most interested. The words were composed by Abbot Maurus O Faolain, Abbot of Mount Mellary and native of Kilrossanty Parish on the ploes of the Comeragh Mountains. I am still tring to get the words.

Were the words found by anybody. I learned the song at school, but have long since forgotten them, would be pleased to get them again if available
