Subject: RE: new Beverley Sessions thread From: GUEST,ET Date: 05 Aug 06 - 04:44 AM Tiger Sessions was a good do. Well attended, well played and sort of connected with the pub - attracted an audience! Hope it goes well for the future. |
Subject: RE: new Beverley Sessions thread From: Pistachio Date: 04 Aug 06 - 05:23 PM If you mean Edwina - then No! She was on the bill at Bev Folk Fest and has lived and played in Nashville. She'd be made more than welcome. A wonderful voice and superb guitarist - and a lovely person too. Hazel. |
Subject: RE: new Beverley Sessions thread From: ossonflags Date: 04 Aug 06 - 09:34 AM Who's Eddy Hayes? |
Subject: RE: new Beverley Sessions thread From: Tim theTwangler Date: 04 Aug 06 - 09:18 AM I always struggled to say sixpence three farthing or similar is difficult to say any amount with farthing on the end without sounding like an exxxtera in Heartbeat. Does Eddy Hayes attend that music thing in Beverly? |
Subject: RE: new Beverley Sessions thread From: Paco Rabanne Date: 04 Aug 06 - 07:14 AM Can I come? I wont play flamenco, honest! |
Subject: RE: new Beverley Sessions thread From: Sir Roger de Beverley Date: 04 Aug 06 - 05:16 AM Good luck with the session R |
Subject: RE: new Beverley Sessions thread From: Graham and Jo Date: 04 Aug 06 - 01:19 AM The Tiger, (Lairgate near Keldgate) in Beverley, has got a car park. |
Subject: RE: new Beverley Sessions thread From: Graham and Jo Date: 03 Aug 06 - 05:28 PM Tiger Three pubs in Beverley have shown an interest in Friday sessions. No decisions made yet but a one-off session is on in the Tiger for tomorrow (Friday). The beer is excellent and it's cheaper than in the Sun. It would be nice to do something in Oddfellows sometime. The landlords are keen on folk. There use to be a tunes session there on Sundays. |
Subject: RE: new Beverley Sessions thread From: Les from Hull Date: 03 Aug 06 - 05:01 PM Me an' our lass'll be there! |
Subject: RE: new Beverley Sessions thread From: Sir Roger de Beverley Date: 03 Aug 06 - 03:14 PM not fresh enough |
Subject: RE: new Beverley Sessions thread From: ossonflags Date: 03 Aug 06 - 06:34 AM feresh |
Subject: RE: new Beverley Sessions thread From: GUEST Date: 02 Aug 06 - 08:53 AM It clearly made no sense to have both a live session and recorded "background" music going on at the same time. One of them had to go - unfortunately they chose the wrong one. |
Subject: RE: new Beverley Sessions thread From: ossonflags Date: 02 Aug 06 - 05:31 AM You are always sure of a great welcome at "Monks Walk" this Sunday!!!! 3.00pmish start |
Subject: RE: new Beverley Sessions thread From: Graham and Jo Date: 01 Aug 06 - 03:57 PM What had an adverse affect on Friday night custom was the session being squeezed into the snug and having loud music played over it. No one likes different kinds of music at once. We managed to have good sessions despite all and it looks like we got too loud for them. The Sun have missed out. |
Subject: RE: new Beverley Sessions thread From: Paco Rabanne Date: 01 Aug 06 - 09:46 AM Ged is away today so The Woolpack will be squid free tonight. |
Subject: RE: new Beverley Sessions thread From: Hand-Pulled Boy Date: 01 Aug 06 - 08:47 AM Went in on Saturday night. The Abbotts ale and the guinness were not up to standard so did NOT stay. Hope it's better on Saturday, 12th August as 'cowfisH' will be playing live (Electric format), and will be supported by 'harriWattsband' (probably from 9pm O'clock). It will make a pleasant change from the Rock Covers bands that are always on. |
Subject: RE: new Beverley Sessions thread From: ossonflags Date: 01 Aug 06 - 04:58 AM Looks like we will be quorate !! |
Subject: RE: new Beverley Sessions thread From: Carol Date: 01 Aug 06 - 03:02 AM Same here just got home from our travels, Staithes and Durham Folk Party both really good weekends, I suppose we'll have to stay at home for a week or at least until I get all the washing done!! |

Subject: RE: new Beverley Sessions thread From: Pistachio Date: 31 Jul 06 - 02:06 PM If I've got a voice I'll be there....and may drag LK along if I can. If, if? H. |
Subject: RE: new Beverley Sessions thread From: ossonflags Date: 31 Jul 06 - 09:54 AM This Sunday at "Monks Walk" as usual 3.00pm start. Do realise it is holiday season and that, but hope plenty make it. |
Subject: RE: new Beverley Sessions thread From: Sir Roger de Beverley Date: 31 Jul 06 - 03:41 AM Yes, similar remarks about the sunday session have been made before. However, sunday is a quiet day in the pub and any custom is welcome whereas Friday evening is pretty busy anyway and they don't "need" a session to bring in the trade. The Sun remains, however, a favoured venue amongst the musos for its overall ambience and the acoustics. R |
Subject: RE: new Beverley Sessions thread From: GUEST Date: 30 Jul 06 - 05:03 PM went in today and asked about rumours, was told they are going nowhere and was told cancelling Fridays had to be done because she felt it was having an adverse effect on the Friday night custom. She also once again praised the Sunday sessions and said she would like to have us play every Sunday possible if it was possible if you know what I mean |
Subject: RE: new Beverley Sessions thread From: Sttaw Legend Date: 30 Jul 06 - 09:20 AM Take the pool table before they get in then they wont know its missing! |
Subject: RE: new Beverley Sessions thread From: Sir Roger de Beverley Date: 30 Jul 06 - 08:13 AM Hope the new management ditch the pool table then! R |
Subject: RE: new Beverley Sessions thread From: Graham and Jo Date: 30 Jul 06 - 04:40 AM The Sun is not closed they just don't want folk music on Fridays. But we have heard the management is about to change. |
