Subject: colon-eating test thread: colonoscopy??? From: Joe Offer Date: 23 Feb 99 - 03:54 AM The 'Cat seems to be eating thread titles that have punctuation in them, making lots of threads titled "Lyrics Request" that infuriate many of us so much. I suspect the culprit may be colons in the thread title. Then again, it might be more likely to be semicolons, which have a more common function in HTML. Let's see what happens. Max & Mike, please take note of this problem. Also note that the 'Cat also still doesn't seem to like certain characters, like those curly quotation marks in documents copy-and-pasted from word processors. -Joe Offer- |
Subject: RE: colon-eating test thread: colonoscopy??? From: Joe Offer Date: 23 Feb 99 - 04:00 AM 'Tain't semicolons, neither. Is there anybody who's had the problem who can figure out what they did that made their thread title truncate? This thread is one that had problems. -Joe Offer- |

From: Felipa Date: 23 Nov 22 - 07:26 PM time to expand this thread in another direction; I was surprised to find the following titles on youtube: [note use of both semi-colon and full colon] As luck would have it, the performances are in folk and country vein rather than rock/pop/jazz The Colonoscopy Song, sung by Peter Yarrow https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iRPMR-KDXJE Deb Seymour, Colonoscopy Colonoscopy performed by Many Strings Tim Hawkins, Colonoscopy Song Colonoscopy Song - The Rural Characters "I never thought I'd see the day, when I would volunteer to pay to suffer such profound indignities" words subtitled on screen The Colorectal Surgeon Song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W2gABYTmXos performed by Bowser and Blue

Subject: RE: colon-eating test thread: colonoscopy??? From: GUEST,Johnny J Date: 30 Nov 22 - 06:42 AM I've every reason to be grateful to colectoral surgeons. Thankfully, I'm doing fine. Otherwise, I'd have found the last few posts a little upsetting. I hope no-one else is! Anyway, it's not as "mucky" a job as you'd think as patients usually have preparation first e.g. Moviprep, Picolax or similar to clean out the bowel. |
Subject: RE: colon-eating test thread: colonoscopy??? From: HuwG Date: 30 Nov 22 - 02:38 PM I too must add a note in praise of colo-rectal surgeons. But for the actions of one three years ago, I would no longer be posting. As an aside, I continue to devolve into "Grunpy old man"© I recall a rare instance of me writing to Aunty Beeb some years ago. One of my pet hates is perfectly articulate British brat bands attempting to sound like the Everly Brothers. I have been known to walk out of a gig where the band snarls its way through "Baah, baah, Miss American Pah" and "Here's to you Mrs Rabbinson". Even worse is the breathy faux American "Ah! am gonna flah! To your sahd, tonaht". However, the gist of my complaint to Aunty was "For God's sake, it's pronounced EYES! I object to being exhorted several times on my drive to work to 'Open your a*se'!" Having had to do so several times over the last three years as the colo-rectal team check for regrowth (so far, so good, and my stoma is due to be reconnected in the near future), my objection still stands. |
