Subject: RE: Lyr Req: I live in dear old Sydney ..[NovaScotia] From: Jim Dixon Date: 13 Jul 06 - 11:06 PM Merle Travis recorded DEAR OLD HALIFAX. It begins: In Nova Scotia I was born near Sydney on the bay, But once I went to Halifax to spend a holiday.... That's all I was able to hear in a sound sample. The tune resembles DEAR OLD DONEGAL. It's on the Merle Travis CD "Folk Songs of the Hills (Back Home/Songs of the Coal Miners)" Bear Family CD 15636, 1994. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: I live in dear old Sydney ..[NovaScotia] From: Beer Date: 14 Jul 06 - 09:28 PM The fellow who mention what he knew of this song said it was Merle Watson. I guess he had the information in correct as well. I think now that things will start to fall in place. Thanks Jim Dixon and all those searching. Beer |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: I live in dear old Sydney ..[NovaScotia] From: Beer Date: 15 Jul 06 - 11:11 AM Dear Old Halifax. When I first started this thread I said that I didn't know the title. Well someone with kind intentions gave it the name of "I Live in Dear Old Sydney", which is incorrect. So could that kind person now change it again to the correct one? Dear Old Halifax. I would but have no clue how to. Beer
Changed, more or less as requested |
