Our Thursday 6th July folk club at the Ship Inn Wadebridge went so well we are holding another on Saturday 12th August at 8pm, again with proceeds to Cornwall Folk Festival.
Be great if this will become a regular club! Thank to everyone who came along and helped make it such a good night.
See you all sat 12th August.

Glad to see that someone is trying to revamp a club in wadebridge. Not good timing though with so many other bigger calls on the folkies time. Mmmm I hope it succeeds ok cos I gather that Wadebridge festival could do with the help ..... never been a draw since John Webb's days I'm afraid.

in fact wadebridge hasnt recovered since mervyn vincent moved on, so its good to see a mervyn virgin emerging

bout time someone got their finger out down there and got things moving

Well, I kow that everyone is working hard for the CFF but being so far away geographically speaking, it must offer something really different in its programming to tempt people from Towersey for example. Sidmouth remains the 'big' headline programme with loads and loads of other stuff and Dartmoor offers the contrast with the best 'village based' festival so ... what can Wadebridge offer to drag people back to the west country again?

By the way Isambarde ... on what did you base your arrangement of Tams's 'Over the Hills' ?????

Primarily from the John Tams version on the Sharpe soundtrack. It just seemed like a cool idea to put it in 6/8 rather than 4/4!

We dont belong on the committee of the festival though they all work very hard. This is why we thought we would help raise some funds and enjoy doing it.

We have Harvey Andrews at our club tomorrow night in the Comfort Hotel St Albans.

Why has he never been booked for Wadebridge? his songs appear in sessions and he is still one of the biggest draws on the scene, after Vin Garbutt !! sorry harv

your 12th could do with a headliner so why not 'Roses'

Yes, just finished recording another cd. Sang at a concert in St, Breock Church Sunday evening.Singing loads at the moment(in between working of course)Art work on CD done soon, so hopefully ready in few weeks.
Im afraid booking for festival is nothing to do with us, you'd need to get hold of probably Niall or maybe Jim. Take a look at festival site.
Its Jinks not Jinx.He gets upset when wrong!!(not really)

'Jinx' has nore impact

Harvey pulled ina full house last night,the guy has a lot of followers, thats 4 times in 6 years he's done that at our club.

now we break till 17th September

the last time I was down i was impressed by the atmosphere at Bodmin and I took along Dan Mckinnon who duly impressed Vic et all.

have you been there lately? You ought to go to plug your night.

Have flyer saved,can i send one to you as e-mail attachment? Vic couldnt make last one as it was a Thursday when The Morris men are out.
However the next is a Saturday so quite a few Bodmin Folk should be there.
We go to Bodmin now and again, and try to go to Roger Bryants Stithians monthly do whenever we can.
Jake Walton came to the Ship and we are meeting up with him soon. Used to sing around with him loads in late 60s/70s.

Jinks has been singing with us for about six yeqrs as Thorn and Roses.
They are getting together (Jinks Stack) for a concert sometime in November I think.

Breezy, their reputation was national and they were the mechanism for getting Cornish Lads so well known. They aloso received commissions from the BBC too for vocal work. They were amongst the top 5 a cappella bands in the 90's and were even asked to stand in for CBS once in Essex and supported Lindisfarne, Show of Hands and Ralph McTell. They attended festivals in Ireland too alongside the Voice Squad etc etc etc etc etc. The trouble always was that no one is a prophet in their own land ... they were to good for Cornwall and Cornish kilted people. They could only get true recognition outside of the SW.
