Subject: RE: 2nd Annual Lobster Boil at SINSULL's From: Charley Noble Date: 31 Jul 06 - 07:52 PM JudyB and I should probably bow out of this one. Judy is shipping out the next morning to a meeting in Nashville related to her job. We do plan to attend the house concert the night before but two nights running may be excessive, and three nights running is totally out of the question. Still, it is tempting... Cheerily, Charley Noble |

Subject: RE: 2nd Annual Lobster Boil at SINSULL's From: adventure Date: 11 Aug 06 - 05:54 PM Sins, When you cook your lobsters do you throw them into the boiling pot or do you place them in cool water and warm them gently to a boil. They actually go to sleep in a relaxed state by the latter method. Seriously. I used to work for the USDI and a pamphlet was written about this subject. It was called "A case of tense lobsters" or something like that...almost 40 years ago. Works well....less volatility in the pot, too. Doryman |
Subject: RE: 2nd Annual Lobster Boil at SINSULL's From: Barry Finn Date: 11 Aug 06 - 10:54 PM This lobster was having trouble getting sleep, it was a bit too uptight, so it went to see a Lobster Quack, Loster Quack asks, "What's wrong, why can't you sleep"? Lobster replies, "It's about my girlfriend. Well first I lobster in a Tee Pee, then I flounder in a Wig Wam Dr Lobster says "For the Halibut, I think you're two tents, let me lance her boil". Barry |

Subject: RE: 2nd Annual Lobster Boil at SINSULL's From: jacqui.c Date: 12 Aug 06 - 10:16 AM I'm glad to report that we have 30 lobsters sitting in our fridge waiting impatiently for the festivities to begin. Alright - it's me that's impatient - I don't think the little darlings really understand the important part they will be playing in the event. |
Subject: RE: 2nd Annual Lobster Boil at SINSULL's From: kendall Date: 12 Aug 06 - 10:48 AM There are many humane ways to do them in.I usually hypnotize them. Onother way is to submerse them in fresh water for a few hours, another is to put them in cold water and bring them to a boil, but my favorite is to put them into a pot and cover them with booze. It doesn't have to be good stuff, even American beer will do. Turn the heat up, and by the time the booze is hot they couldn't care less. Then there's "Lazy man's lobster". Put them into a frypan along with half a dozen eggs, turn the heat up and the lobsters scramble the eggs. |
Subject: RE: 2nd Annual Lobster Boil at SINSULL's From: Becca72 Date: 12 Aug 06 - 12:21 PM DAD!! I cannot be in the same room when they're sent to their tiny little horrid deaths. I'm all over them afterward with a bowl of butter...but I can't witness the act. And I'm sorry but styrofoam in the microwave is just too much. How many chemicals seep into the little buggers? |
Subject: RE: 2nd Annual Lobster Boil at SINSULL's From: kendall Date: 12 Aug 06 - 02:35 PM They have no central nervous system, so, they don't feel pain as we do. They do have the instinct to try to get away from danger. |
Subject: RE: 2nd Annual Lobster Boil at SINSULL's From: gnu Date: 12 Aug 06 - 03:06 PM If the weather here is any indication of the weather across the border, Bente got her wish for cooler weather. I ran some errands an hour ago. When I got in my truck, I turned the air conditioning (which has been in the on position for two months) off. A minute later, I turned on the heat. It's 14 and windy and raining. At 4PM! Jaysus... it hasn't even been 14 at night for two months! I hope youse all are having a boil! |
Subject: RE: 2nd Annual Lobster Boil at SINSULL's From: gnu Date: 13 Aug 06 - 05:08 AM HI EVERYBODY!!!! HOW ARE YOU ALL FEELING THIS MORNING? WHAT? OH, JUST AFTER SIX.... WHY? AIN'T YOU FELLERS UP YET? |
Subject: RE: 2nd Annual Lobster Boil at SINSULL's From: kendall Date: 13 Aug 06 - 06:09 AM I've been up since 4:30. Them Lobsters were some good! Hard to believe they are related to spiders. |
Subject: RE: 2nd Annual Lobster Boil at SINSULL's From: Bat Goddess Date: 13 Aug 06 - 09:08 AM Speaking of "Jaysus" we've had a miracle of sorts take place. Perhaps it's the result of too much lobster -- or not enough coffee. Anyway, Kendall missed it all. An apparition, perhaps. We're still deciding whether to call the police or the Vatican...the Portland Press Herald or the National Inquirer. Maybe it's the result of the occasional "tasteful" gift that Sinsull has placed in guests' cars hoping the gift wouldn't be discovered until the recipient was halfway home. Anyway, Sinsull's backyard is now decorated with an interesting piece of sculpture. And I'm sure it will look even better with little white Christmas tree lights wrapped about it -- or the lobster lights decorating the fence. It fits right in with the suit of Spanish armor and the rest of Sinsull's decor. Perhaps it just spontaneously appeared. Oh, by the way, it was a great lobster boil and an even better singaround. Eventually we even got Bente to sing and she's got a lovely voice and I hope she raises it in song a lot more often! Linn |
