August is usually quite in town, most of the events that I have received notice of are taking place in Long Island and NJ.

Lincoln Center Out of Doors


Lincoln Center Out of Doors runs this year from 8/4-8/27. Events are all free. Check the link for specifics, which include folk and jazz among other things, but I'll mention two things here:

Sat 8/19- Sun 8/20 - Roots of American Music Festival – mainly folk and blues this year.

Sun 8/6 - Heritage Sunday - fiddle and other strings - Ukrainian, Klezmer, and bluegrass.

There's quite a lot of variety in the festival overall, so check all the listings.
