No, not McCartney. The other one. Yeah, the one that used to sing with Garfunkle.

I recently learned that my young friend Guthrie Trapp, who moved to Nashville a few years back to seek his fame and fortune is now playing guitar and mandolin for The Jerry Douglas Band, which is touring as the opening act for Paul Simon's summer tour. It's incredible enough that the kid should land a gig playing with the world's premier Dobroist, but to have touring with Paul Simon thrown in with the deal is pretty heady stuff. The entire acoustic music community down here in Floribama is incredibly stoked over our musical favorite son's good fortune. We've known he's had the talent for years. Now it looks like he may be getting the breaks to go along with it.

WOW-O-WOW!! I got to see Jerry Douglas perform in the early 80's, up close and personal; bought his first tape at that concert. I'd be quite happy with a concert just of him, but adding Simon, too, would be wonderful. That is heady stuff for anyone, let alone a talented kid. Awesome!
