As this was found useful elsewhere and apparently not everyone is aware of it I thought I'd start a specific thread - hope that's ok.
Just in case people are still streaming Youtube videos and aren't aware, here's a different way (I'm sure you all know this anyway but...)
Go to Youtube and find the video you want. On the page of the video is a URL
Copy the URL and go to YouTubex.com and paste the URL into the box
Download the file and save it to your disk. Once downloaded rename it to whatever you want. ????.flv
How do you play an flv file? Go to flv player and use what's there. There are other players you can download but this particular one allows full screen and some other options and there is no install.
And that's about it.
Goodness knows why they stream it all - it apparently currently costs $1m+ a month. I trust the ads are enough to keep it going!
Can't say how long this particular way round it will last - all the previous ways round it have been plugged.
If youtubex downloads stop working you can always play the video on youtube and then go and look in C:\documents and settings\user\local settings\temporary internet files and fish the file out of there and rename it with a .flv extension but that's fiddly.
