Yes indeed - that's the Mike O'Connor - Cornish Bard, OBE and all!!

I bow to the Bridge Folk Club - Croydon folk Club moved venues at least three times and I don[t believe it is still running. Topic is older but has changed venues. Still - it was a nice try!!

Yes, I forgot to mention Thorn and Roses - I recommend their CD.

I heard Jinks singing with Sylv and Row last weekend as Thorn and Roses - and Jinks has also replaced George Chippendale in Baldrick's Plan. John W - did you mean Mike O'Connor (now providing music for Poldark....)?

My wife and I started the longest continually running folk club in England in 1967 - The Croydon Folk Club. Any challenges?!!

Here is a rather belated reply, three years on!

Jink's Stack were Mike Kessell, Jink's (John) Jenkins and Graham O'Callaghan. Jinks and Mike are Cornish born and bred; Graham originally from Ireland but with many years in Cornwall. They produced a superb acapella album, See the Boys Out Walking. A track listing follows. The last track, Casey's Last Ride, is a slightly reworked Kris Kristofferson song, which ended up in their repertoire and on the album because Mike and I were in a duo, Two in the Rough, around the late 1970's, I taught Mike the song and it was in our repertoire. Mike liked the song enough to persuade Jink's Stack to include it in their act and on the album.

As with all ego's, there were disagreements between Mike and Graham, Graham left and was replaced with my longtime friend, Tony Franklin. These three then recorded a second album. I have it on tape somewhere but am unable to find it at present. Eventually, they went their separate ways. However, Tony and I met up again much later as part of my Cornish Songwriters group. With the excellent help and guidance from Mike O'Donnell, we produced and performed a series of highly successful folk operas. But that is another story!

Nearly a decade on, and I can find no response on this thread to Raymond's request of July 2006!
Did they ever get back on the road at all?
I've got a cassette of one of their two albums, and very fine it is too, but it contains no information as to the personnel involved. (I think I recognised Graham O'Callaghan from the cover photo.. but who were the other two fellows?)
Does this stir anyone's memories or discographical files?

Excellent band. Could be a little rougher with the harmonies, at times it gets nearly barber-shoppy but great nonetheless. When I was involved with Hazlitt Folk I spent a year bullying the committee into trying to book them and when the committee did so, before the gig came round the band split! Go see them while they are together.

I have no involvement with these guys apart from just loving their sound and their infrequent company. Jinks Stack a great harmony group from the 90's are back rehearsing and out on the road from the autumn. Aparently they are keeping it 'quiet' as they don't want to be taken over by endless tours and gigs.They all have other singing committments as solo performers now. BUT ... they are up for gigs which are just fun and special ... old friends and all that. Being selfish it would be great to hear these guys again out and about .... especially since Tony's daughter died so get in contact and maybe they might appear at a club or festival near me ..!!!!
