I see earlier the limericks centred on well known members. Hope this silly one doesn't offend, Steve. (I am not sure if the Latin actually rhymes but can be forced to if need be!)

A botanical expert named Shaw
With species and genus could bore:
Phalaenopsis mariae,
Digitalis dubia,
Till you fell in a faint to the floor.

Alas, that rhyme was used, rather emetically, a long time ago. It continued:

But in her interstices
She had a far worse disease
That -- well, never mind.

The required pronunciation of "interstices", tho common, is wrong.

To recap (kneecap?)

A young lady from the Azores,
Whose kneecaps were covered in sores.
Said "I think my affliction" . . .

Reminds me of

1. There was a young man of Japan
2. Who limericks never will scan
3. It seems that they tend
4. To come to an end
5. Quite suddenly!

Ivor

There was a young man from Japan,
Whose limericks never would scan.
When told this was so,
He replied, "yes, I know"
But I always try to get as many words in the last line as ever I possible can.

On Mudcat there are intellectual,
With rhyme and rhythm ineffectual.
But with some hard work,
And with never a shirk,
Their Limericks could be somewhat sexual.

Invited a lady for tea.
Tho' she swooned in his arms,
And exposed all her charms,
He said, "Please take your hand off my knee."

Hi,

A Mudcatter named Rapparee
Once invited a lady for tea.
He sang of Suzanne
And her wish for a man
But the lady expected quick repartee

Bye,

The preceding two contributers seem to differ on how to stress "Rapparee". Let's try it both ways:

A Mudcatter name Rapparee
Once invited a lady for tea.

A fussy Mudcatter named Rapparee,
Who liked to use freshly starched napery,
    Complained to his butler,

Well, since the Rapture was a bust (except for Little Hawk's dog), and we're not going to have the opportunity to escape boredom by enduring five months of Tribulation, I thought it might be time for a diversion of a different sort. So, I've refreshed this old thread.

Just so you won't have to go to the first post to read the "rules", here they are:

One person writes the first line of a limerick and passes it on to the next person who writes the next line.

Pretty simple, isn't it?

To start things out...

A Mudcatter named Rapparee...
