I don't know the programme - but in any weekend festival I would usually pick Saturday as the best day, on the basis of more variety (Friday usually starts late and Sunday packs up early to allow for travelling). In any case, I should be on the whole weekend, from what I know (unlucky you! ;-)).

Is there anyone in particular you would like to see as the leaflet does give a little insight into who's on when.

We'll be there, we really enjoyed last year.Saturday looks the best day if you can only make one but it depends what you're looking for.I did have a leaflet but gave it to a friend hoping to entice her into camping.

For what it's worth, in my opinion, try and catch Harvey Andrews, George Papavgeris, Les Barker, John Richards and my old mates Dave Tighe and Nigel Bullock. There are always lots of local singers on worth a look and me supping water in the beer tent (not booked again - but not bitter!!)

As well as the festival, don't miss the butchers up the road!
His faggots, black pudding and pork pies are out of this world!

What a great weekend, despite the weather. Not as many folks there as I'd hoped but being stuck in V Festival Traffic on the way made it seem bigger than it was. Had a fantastic time with Sal, (I'm in love with the Lemonade Lady) Mike, (get on that stage and play again) Bob, (thanks for the gig) Robbie, (don't shout) Lizzie, (for showing Sarah the ropes) Joan, (for the bald headed men) Paul, (Spanish pop songs a speciality) Gwyneth & Pete (competently running the open mike) etc and we all played some great stuff. The stage was brilliant, (lets fill it next time) and who knows, maybe another time, my name will be on the programme too.
Saw some great turns, highlights for me were George (you know how to spell it) and Les (woof woof).
The facilities were superb, (porta loos in all the right places)the stalls varied (from Lemonade (did I mention -I'm in love with ...) to bric a brac (she's in and out the bric a brac).

The kids (Mark and Sarah) loved it and so did Polly (on the shore).

Thanks Burntwood, if I can, I'll be back, if only to get my tuner.

Geoff (of the bright yellow shoes)

I'm not too sure about this festival. I've waited a couple of days to see if there are any comments - other than webfolk's - hi Geoff!

My experience was brief in the extreme, as I popped in to play in the open mic session on Saturday afternoon in the beer-tent, which unfortunately was cancelled so that some dancers could perform under cover.

There seemed very few people about, and the trade stalls (including Sally's) were deserted.

It's a great shame that I got this impression, and would like to hear from anyone who enjoyed the festival.

(P.S. It may have only seemed empty because I had just come back from Sidmouth!!)

Sorry no replies sooner, I've just returned home from mammoth trip- Burntwood, Wales then Shrewsbury. I think Burntwood is a great festival- one of my favourites and I've been to seven or so this year it's small and freiendly with great facilities , the portaloos were emptied and cleaned twice everyday unlike at Shrewsbury where they seemed to be almost permanently full. There weren't that many people about but I think the weather may have put the local residents off venturing onto the field. Admitedly I am a watcher rather than a doer but Burntwood is one of the first festivals I will be booking next year. By the way watch out for Something Nasty in the Woodshed they were great!

Wrong Barry I think Guest.
However, I've been to several Burntwoods and enjoyed every one of them, including this one.
A good guest list, decent ales or ciders in ther beer tent, and an excellent camp site with even better showers!
Only 2 downsides, both unfortunately well beyond the control of the organisers.

First was the weather and, quite frankly after the rain and force 8 gales at Saltburn, the previous weekend, I was not in the mood for more bloody rain and wind!!

The second was the start of a local Triathlon on the other side of Chasewater at some bloody silly time on the Sunday morning, 07:00 if I recall correctly, but sounding as if it came from the next tent!!

But overall, well done the organisers and yes, I will be there next year1

To Barry H, I saw you, guitar on back, in afternoon as I was passing with an over exuberant Labrador puppy, so couldn't stop, thanks for the HI.
I agree with Sapper about the weather, but what can we do? Probably a lot worse for those at the nearby V fest. Ha Ha.
As for the Sunday morning wake up call, I quite enjoyed it.
I did feel the bar stage was somewhat underused as there where a lot of players around who could have 'played' on it

Now, is anyone from the stewards going to admit to knowing the whereabouts of my guitar tuner?

Geoff

Hi Guest above, yes, Sapper is correct , different Barry, he's BarryY!

I'm a local musician who likes to play, but got frustrated when he couldn't.

I wasn't looking to cause an issue and I wish Bunrtwood well for the future and hope they are luckier with the weather.

I was at another local festival (playing this time!!) at Baggeridge on Saturday where the weather was also bloody awful - quite a big crowd considering the weather!!

As you say, nothing we can do about that!!
