Since nobody has identified "It was only a couple of flipper babies," here's another line from the same movie:

[shouted] "We beat penicillin!"

This could be a toughie or it could be a slam-dunk. Errol Flynn and Alan Hale were together as side-kicks in enough swashbucklers during the Thirties and Forties that they seemed almost as inseparable as Hope and Crosby in the "Road" movies. By the way, that's Alan Hale Sr. Alan Hale Jr. was probably most famous for playing the Captain on "Gilligan's Island," but he was a dead ringer for his old man.

Anyway, it's a costume flick with lots of swordplay. Early in the movie, Errol Flynn leaps off a balcony into the garden below where Alan Hale is standing guard, or just waiting for Flynn to finish pursuing his hobby. Flynn points over his shoulder and says one word. Hale points away from the manor house and says another word. The conversation goes like this:

Flynn:   "Husband!"
Hale:   "Horses!"

And they run like hell.

As the thread title says, "Name the Movie."

Your on the money WLD. Rebecca it is and Mrs Danvers it was.
The Actress who played Mrs Danvers was Judith Anderson.
Why do I remember that you might ask...well I remember her name because her first name is the same as mine [usually only used when my Parents were annoyed at me or by Govermental Folk] and her second name was the surname of my best Friend, Anne, who I watched the Film with first time round.
I must have watched it so so many times now and still love it and the Mrs Danvers Character.
So there you go WLD for getting the answer correct you got more information than you could have ever wanted to know regarding my memories of this Film but hey it's it is Thor's Day and I am trying to delay going out to start cutting my Hay Field..!!:)
Best Wishes,
Jude aka Judith

"Monsters . . . from the ID!"

AHA! I saw it when it first came out in 1949. Contains another great line, the last one in the movie if I remember right. Cagney stands on top of this big gas storage tank, shouts, "Look, Ma! I'm on top of the world!"

And the tank explodes in a great fireball. (May have something to do with the title.)

I'm fairly sure it was Cagney in the same movie (Cagney could play crazy like nobody else!). I can't recall the exact circumstances (it was 57 years ago that I saw the movie!), but they're about to smuggle some hood in the trunk of a car (I think he may have ratted on the Cagney character, but thought he was getting away with it). He crawls into the trunk and they close the lid. His muffled voice comes out of the trunk and he's complaining that there's no air in there. Cagney says, "Here! Lemme give ya some air holes!" Then he pulls his gun out of his shoulder holster and empties it into the trunk lid.

You could hear gasps of horror all over the theater.

Hey Don, I came out in '49 myself!! So, obviously I didn't see it at it's premire. I saw it on TV in the 50's at some point. My brother and I loved all the gangster flicks and Cagney and Edward G. Robinson were the best.

"Monsters . . . from the ID!"
"Sometimes the magic works, and sometimes it doesn't"
"If Uncle doesn't get his cut, we nail your hide to the barnyard door"

Don Firth got the first one - Forbidden Planet.

I'm surprised that no one has identified the second one! Perhaps no one cares!

The third one is probably obscure. First hint: The "Uncle" of the quote is Uncle Sam, specifically the IRS.
