That's bloody expensive chaps.

In fact it is disgustingly greedy.

You are playing on the fact that Stoups Cross camp site is not available and just ripping people off!

Personally I would rather buy a season ticket (which I have very rarely done in all my years of coming to Whitby Folk Week) and get full value for my money than pay your over inflated, egomaniac, greedy, grasping, selfish, blatantly rip off fees.

Yeh get a season ticket, & contribute something to the festival finances for a change. Personally I don't think M&C camping is overly expensive, when you think that the reason the comm college is not being used by Whitby Fest is the increased cost of hiring it. But you pays your money & makes your choice.
Cheers
Les

The Temporary Campsite (run by Moor & Coast Festival)is no more expensive that other sites in the area. We provide a campsite with good clean indoor facilities on a great location. We had the oppotunity to use this site after talking to Malc (Whitby Folk Week) and we thought it would be a great idea to have it as a campsite.

Many people camped at Stoup Cross but that no longer is an option. There is a critical shortage of pitches available for tents, we are trying to provide an alternative...

Just to put the record straight, Moor & Coast Festival is a not for profit organisation. Funds raised from this will be put back into bringing music, song, dance and arts into Whitby and the rural area... No one takes a cut!!!

Well said M&C

Soldier boy is out of order, and M&C do not need to defend themselves.

Keep up the good work M&C

Wish I could be there.

This is an excellent site, in easy reach of town and Spa/festival office. I'm sure those people who have chosen to camp here are extremely grateful.

If, as has happened in the past, the Folk festival clashed with the Regatta, M&C would have people queueing to get spaces, as alternatives would not be available at any price.

Local people, with local knowledge are invaluable.
Good luck to M&C.

soldier boy should look at the cost of hotels and he would then realise what a bargain this handily placed campsite really is.

I would certainly use this site if I hadn't already booked in elsewhere before I heard about it.

But in an hotel one would be given a bed and probably breakfast. I, too, think Soldier Boy went a bit over the top but still think that he is correct that the cost is too high. I don't doubt that the college are charging a high price to use the facilities - maybe this is where Soldier Boy should address his criticisms.

Exactly Guest - not at the people that do their best to keep folk live.

Monies charged by Whitby Community College go directly into the local fund for extras for the student... Any surplus generated for Moor & Coast Festival will go directly into promoting Folk music in the area...

How good is that... apart from those donations the camping seems free...

Although the festival site at Stakesby School is not very big, it's nice and near the festival, so if you have a season ticket, it's better as well as cheaper than the M&C offering. And there will be catering there again this year, thank goodness!

We can offer you space at Grove in Oxfordshire, you could keep contact with Whitby by mobile phone & enjoy White Horse Folk Festival, just trying to help.

Sorry Moor and Coast (Chris and Glen and Co) when I posted my message on this thread I must have been in a bloody foul mood and went overboard with my caustic negativity!

From reading other messages from good-hearted people on this thread I realise that I have got it wrong.
I know that camping spaces are always a premium at Whitby Folk week and that you are providing a very valuable and essential facility to accomodate the growing numbers of people to this festival.

I still think your fees are expensive but if the Whitby Community College are getting greedy and charging you over-inflated rates then fair enough.

I do wish you well and apologise for besmirching your good name and your continued efforts to keep the folk scene alive and well in Whitby.

My last appeal is that you continue the Moor and Cost tradition (from
your May Day weekend) to have a late night sing-around in the male shower block. This has always been a highlight of the M & C festival
and I'm sure that this years campers would find this an additional incentive to camp on your site.
I know you have had problems with litter left behind and stuff but I am sure that there is a cheap and easy solution to this.

Come on guys get it together and let's get it sorted!

All the best for a very special week.

Just got back from Whitby last night, we stayed at the community college site: decent facilities plus decent folks running the site. I'll be back there next year for sure.

My thanks to those running the site.

John
