The world of Scottish and Irish folk/traditional music has lost many friends during the past year. The latest death I have heard of is that of Deborah White of Distant Oaks. I only knew her by e-mail, personal and on Scottish Gaelic language discussion groups where she was known as Gobnait, and where she will be very much missed. There is a notice up on her website, www.distantoaks.com

Sad news. Deborah was local here. She auditioned for my band once.

My condolences to her two talented sons, Shane and Jared.
