Subject: Lyr Add: TIME (from The Pozo-Seco Singers) From: Cruiser Date: 09 Aug 06 - 02:31 PM I did a search and was surprised I did not find this song. I was another of my favorite "folk" songs. The county singer Don Williams was in this group. TIME Pozo-Seco Singers Written By M. Merchant Some people run. Some people crawl. Some people don't even move at all. Some roads lead forwards. Some roads lead back. Some roads are bathed in light; some wrapped in fearful black. Time, O time, where did you go? Time, O good, good time, where did you go? Sometimes I'm satisfied. Sometimes I'm not. Sometimes my face is cold. Sometimes it's hot. Sunset, I laugh. Sunrise, I cry. At midnight, I'm in between, wondering why. Time, O time, where did you go? Time, O good, good time, where did you go? Time, O time, where did you go? Time, O good, good time, where did you go? Peaked: #47 for one week on 4/02/66 Charted: 7 weeks on chart Time: 3:20 Rank: 369 out of 743 to make Top 100 Label: Columbia Source: Joel Whitburn's POP ANNUAL 1955-1999 Billboard (page 193) Cruiser

Subject: Thanks From: JesseW Date: 10 Aug 06 - 03:19 AM Thanks for posting this; the chart information is interesting, and the lyrics seem like a nice, reasonably standard memory song. I only wish I knew the tune. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Time (Pozo-Seco Singers) From: JedMarum Date: 10 Aug 06 - 09:10 AM Agreed! Great song, thanks for posting the lyrics. I did a program in a prison in New England a number of year and used this song, modified to fit the discussion. Some of the men had heard the original song, all loved it. Time was an important "talking point" to these guys. Other members of the group, Lofton Kline and Susan Taylor, now called Taylor Pie are still out there performing. I've met Lofton, and played a bit of music with him (some recording and a couple of shows in Corpus Christi TX). He's a really great guy. He has an absolutley beautiful voice, a good stage presence and he is consumate pro. It was an honor to work with him. I've heard good things about Talyor Pie, but I haven't met her. All three were recently inducted into the Texas Music Hall of Fame. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Time (Pozo-Seco Singers) From: Cruiser Date: 10 Aug 06 - 10:36 AM eric the red, My point is: this is a music site that has a good archive and I want to have the lyrics of "Time" archived for anyone to refer to. The title prefix is Lyr Add: I would be glad to expand my explanation for you if you so desire. Cruiser |

Subject: Chords Add: Time (Pozo-Seco Singers) From: Jeremiah McCaw Date: 11 Aug 06 - 02:05 AM I've always loved this song. I just picked up my bass & tried to work out the chords. I'll admit that with the "F-C-Dm" walk-down in the chorus, I'm guessing about the 'C' chord. The bass notes are just "f-e-d". Anybody care to review and/or confirm/refute? Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Time (Pozo-Seco Singers) From: Bat Goddess Date: 11 Aug 06 - 08:07 AM I loved and sang this song back in the '60s. Somhow, over the intervening years, my addled brain has attributed it to Cher, though I think I looked through her discography once and didn't find it. My brain confusion is probably caused by another song I sang at the time on a similar subject ("Bang Bang, I Shot You Down" -- at least it was related in my mind). "Time" occasionally floats to the top of my consciousness and I end up singing it, usually alone in my car. Then it retreats to the dusty corners of my brain. Thanks for reminding me of the song! I might, if this turns out not to be a cold I'm fighting off, be able to sing it this weekend at a not strictly trad gathering I'm going to. Linn |
Subject: RE: Lyr Add: Time (Pozo-Seco Singers) From: GUEST Date: 08 Dec 19 - 09:43 AM Jeremiah McCaw has it, I think, but one verse is missing. After the first chorus it's: Some people never get; some never give. Some people never die and some never live. Some folks treat me mean; some treat me kind. Most folks just go their way, don't pay me any mind. Then the chorus and finish as in Jeremiah's post. |
