This coming Thursday (17th August), I will be playing at the Black Swan folk club, Black Swan Inn, Peasholme Green, York.

As this will be my first foray into the ancient city, all support would be welcome, especially from Mudcatters.

In addition, any requests made by Wednesday morning will be actively considered for the sets. As long as they are physically possible, that is.

I'll make the effort to come along and have a listen having heard a lot about you.

If you are up in the York area the night before you are very welcome to come and have a beer and a listen or sing (though don't feel this is a sneaky way to extract a performance for nothing!)- we meet at the Thompsons Arms in Flaxton which is about 10 miles north of York and have a weekly singaround/session.

Enjoy York it's a lovely place to be.

Well George, good news - bad news, The good news is that my heart op was brought forward and I am now in recuperation (and doing swimmingly well i might add), the bad news is that I will not be able to make the gig as promised cos of convalescence/ holiday now brought forward to suit and I will be away from York. Michael Brothwell has your cd and has played a track and will be plugging the gig on "North Yorkshire Folk". I have been telling everyone to go, once again, I am sorry I wont be there, brassed off to be honest, but the op has given me my life back I can be thankful of that.

Sorry you won't be there Stallion - but glad your recuperation is proceeding well (guess I shouldn't say "apace"...!)
It sure promises to be a great night ! 8.30 prompt start (and Roland means it!).
Booked support spots include the club's fab singer-songwriter Stan Graham, Shantyfreak, and resident poet Don Walls, and the whole evening held together by one of the best of the Swan's celebrated comperes - what more could you want for an unmissable night's entertainment... ?
Catch a preview on BBC Radio York's "North Yorkshire Folk" programme on Wed evening.
So let's see loads of Catters there, and give George a reet grand Yorkshire welcome!!!

Best of luck on your performance at the Black Swan. We were there in 1999 and had a wonderful time. Unfortunately we will be in New York tomorrow rather than just plain York, so we will miss the gig. We do hope to hear you again some time, either when we return to the UK or when you come to America.
