Subject: RE: BS: Mirro-Matic Coffee Maker From: open mike Date: 11 Aug 06 - 01:12 PM when is stops being so perky? |
Subject: RE: BS: Mirro-Matic Coffee Maker From: jeffp Date: 11 Aug 06 - 02:17 PM I think open mike probably has it. If it's a percolator, it will go quiet when it's done. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mirro-Matic Coffee Maker From: Sorcha Date: 11 Aug 06 - 02:35 PM Or, if it's a drip, when the carafe is full. If all else fails, if it's brown, it's coffee. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mirro-Matic Coffee Maker From: artbrooks Date: 11 Aug 06 - 03:06 PM On of these? I think you're supposed to wait until the coffee blobs in the glass doohicky on top are the right color. |

Subject: RE: BS: Mirro-Matic Coffee Maker From: Peace Date: 11 Aug 06 - 05:46 PM You might want to replace the plug with one that has three prongs. One ia a ground connection. Good to have. |

Subject: RE: BS: Mirro-Matic Coffee Maker From: Amos Date: 12 Aug 06 - 02:25 AM It's an electric percolator. The color in the top bubble is what tells you it is done. Or you can taste it. The water starts bubbling through the glass bulb a pale watery color and gradually gets browner. They were invented before the integrated circuit -- you had to use eyes and such like. A |
Subject: RE: BS: Mirro-Matic Coffee Maker From: JohnInKansas Date: 12 Aug 06 - 03:11 AM If you adjust the amount of coffee you put in the basket so that the coffee is "done" when all the "good" has been extracted from the coffee grounds, then it won't matter if it perks a little longer, since there's "nothin' left" for it to wring out of the grounds. While some people object to having their "finished" coffee kept at "simmering temperature" as is necessary to keep it perking after it's effectively got all the good it's gonna get, their objections can be handled quite adequately with a terse - "SHUT UP YA SISSY!" - Assuming that you actually have one of those old ones that doesn't switch itself back to a "keep warm" setting after it's perked "enough" it's probably best to just unplug it when you give up waitin' and start pourin'. If you can't drink one them 'bitty li'l pots 'fore it gets cold you ain't much of a coffee hound - so invite a friend to help whenever you make up a pot. John |
