Hello to Detroit & Windsor 'Catters! I know it's short notice, but my plans have been somewhat up in the air until today.

I'm planning to attend Clint's open stage at Drake House in Windsor this Monday evening -- it'd be great to see some other 'Catters there!

More info at: Clint's open stage at Drake House in Windsor

Any takers?

If you can't make it to that, I'm having an open house in Troy (MI) this Sunday afternoon (i.e. tomorrow, Aug 13) from 2-7 p.m. Any 'Catters who would like to attend are welcome -- PM me for the actual address and phone number. There will be other folkies there (although not everyone will be a folkie), so bring your instruments and singing voices.

Hope to see you at one or the other...

How very kind of you both! This is just a quick trip "home" to see family & friends -- and (with a bit of luck)
maybe meet some new ones.
I'll be back in Sheffield by the end of August...

Too bad Maryland isn't a suburb of Detroit, as it would be good to see you again. Check out the area entertainment listings to see if catter Leftydee's Celtic band Death By Accordian (from whence came the T-shirts that you saw Emma B and I wearing at the Yorkshire Gathering) is playing around the Motor City area anywhere. He's in a jug band, too, but I don't know the name of it. Another MudContact for you to seek out in that area.

Just remember... it is a pub... not a folk club.... People in the audience might talk... or even play cards and laugh and have a good time while you're on the mic....

If it's a really nice night, most people will probably be sitting on the patio

Oops, sorry about that, Clinton -- my apologies.

As far as audience attention (or lack thereof) goes, thanks for the reminder -- duly noted.

Looking forward to meeting you -- and Maryaine -- tonight. Larry K will be joining us, too.

See you soon...

Hope you had a great time and were not unduly troubled by the flight chaos in the UK.

See you next time you're in Manchester.

Bob & Sue -- thanks so much for your good wishes. I have a feeling the trip home will be more "interesting" than the trip here was, but then again, it probably won't be as bad as it was for those unfortunate folks who were traveling on the day of the arrests...

maire-aine, was wondering what happened to you (as well as looking forward to meeting you... maybe next time?).

If I get a chance to attend again, I certainly will -- it was great fun! Pleasure to meet you, Clinton. I thought you
& Dan & Andrea put out some fine music together. The pub really *is* lovely and the food *is* excellent; my (English) husband was most impressed with it ("The first *proper* pub I've been to this side of the pond," he said.) I practically had to drag him out of the place (don't feel *too* sorry for him, guys -- it *was* nearly an hour after closing time...)

Hope to do it again next time I'm in the neighbourhood!

Hi there ! I can't tell from the thread, but if you're still in Detroit Monday Aug 21 I'd love for you to come hear my band, The Motor City Sidestrokers. We're playing a lunchtime (11:30 - 1:30)open air concert at Campus Martius in downtown Detoit. The band shell is just off Woodward Ave on Randall. It's a cool summer series the city does. I'm the Death By Accordion guy that Severn mentioned. Please introduce yourself if you make it. Hope to see you there!
