Subject: Tribute to Tony Young From: Briagha Date: 16 Aug 06 - 02:04 PM If you're in southern California, you may remember Tony Young, who used to show up at all sorts of Scottish and Irish gigs playing spoons with every band that would have him. Tony has fallen on some hard times...he had a couple of strokes that have impaired his speech, and then had both legs amputated due to diabetes. He doesn't play, or even get out much any more. We're having a benefit concert, called "A Tribute to Tony" on August 26th, with the proceeds going to help Tony with some medical and accessibility expenses. The concert will include Men of Worth, The Browne Sisters and George Cavanaugh, The Irish Beggarmen (who haven't played together in years, but are reuniting just this once for Tony), Linda Dewar and her band with Mark Romano. There will also be pipers and highland dancers, plus a few surprise guests. Here's a link to the details as posted on my web site: click here! Please come if you can, and please pass this on to anyone you know who might be interested. It should be a great evening. Oh- and if you know Tony, mum's the word-- it's a surprise and so far he doesn't know anything about it. Thanks-- Briagha |
