Many moons ago I heard a very pleasant song called [I think] "Beautiful Havana". Searching the Net I find that title exists, sometimes in Spanish [Hermosa Habana] - but the words and anything else about it don't appear. So it's up to the redoubtable Mudcatters. Any info?

I think that "beautiful Havana" is the standard way of referring to the city. I had a friend who spent six months a year in Havana, and he loved it. He died a couple of years ago, before Bush tightened up travel restrictions.
I couldn't find any songs with the title "Beautiful Havana," but I'm posting this to refresh the thread and send it to the top.

"Hermosa Havana" is the name of the song, a bolero. A hit in the 60's for Los Zafiros in Cuba and outside of North America, where I don't believe it was ever released. Amazon has one of their discs, but the group, hit by the stupid U. S. embargo and never allowed in the States, did not include "Hermosa Havana."

One may fly to Cuba from Canada, a popular winter destination for Canadians, but don't let Cuban Customs stamp your passport (they oblige).

The cd "Zafiros Story" (Best of) has "Hermosa Habana" as track 4.
Available new from Amazon.ca; used from Amazon.com for as low as $5.93 US.

Forgot to mention that this is an 'enhanced' version of the old album.
Amazon.ca has more of their cds than Amazon.com. Their recordings seem to have been popular in Quebec.
